Synthesis of closed PbS nanowires with regular geometric morphologies

Dabin Yu; Debao Wang; Zhaoyu Meng; Jun Lu; Yitai Qian

Closed PbS nanowires with regular geometric morphologies (ellipse and parallelogram shape) were synthesized in the presence of poly[N-(2-aminoethyl)acrylamide] in ethylenediamine/H2O (3∶1, v/v) solvent at 110–150 °C.

Formation of antimony nanotubes via a hydrothermal reduction process

Debao Wang; Dabin Yu; Yiyia Peng; Zhaoyu Meng; Shuyuan Zhang; Yitai Qian

Semimetallic antimony nanotubes were synthesized via a hydrothermal reduction method at 120°C using zinc powder as the reducing agent. X-ray powder diffraction and energy dispersive x-ray analysis showed that the as-prepared sample was elemental antimony. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy characterization indicated that the walls of the antimony nanotubes were constructed with (012) crystal planes of rhombohedral antimony. A possible mechanism for the formation of antimony nanotubes is proposed.

Solvothermal-reduction route to nanocrystalline α- and β-NiS

Zhaoyu Meng; Yiya Peng; Liqiang Xu; Yitai Qian

Nanocrystalline α-NiS and β-NiS were synthesized through a solvothermal reducing process at 110 °C with ethanol and pyridine as solvent, respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectra (ICP-AES) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to characterize the samples. In this reaction, due to the different properties of the solvents, solvent determines the phases of as-prepared NiS. And it was found that the as-prepared α-NiS had higher phase stability than the normal NiS.

Growth of 5H-type silicon carbide whisker

Yiya Peng; Zhaoyu Meng; Chang Zhong; Jun Lu; Yitai Qian

Abstract During a study of graphitization in a commercial Acheson furnace, alpha silicon carbide whiskers were accidentally found, which belongs to the 5H-type. The whiskers are about 2–300 μm in diameter and 5–50 mm long. The whiskers were studied by XRD and SEM, and the formation conditions of the whiskers were discussed.

Microtubes and balls of amorphous phosphorus nitride imide (HPN2) prepared by a benzene-thermal method

Zhaoyu Meng; Yiya Peng; Yitai Qian

Microtubes, hollow balls, solid balls and square frameworks of amorphous phosphorus nitride imide (HPN2) were obtained through the reaction of PCl5 and NaN3 using benzene as solvent and hydrogen source under mild conditions; as an inorganic polymer, amorphous HPN2 with these interesting morphologies may be of potential uses in industries.

Cu5.5FeS6.5 nanotubes—a new kind of ternary sulfide nanotube

Yiya Peng; Zhaoyu Meng; Chang Zhong; Jun Lu; Liqiang Xu; Shuyuan Zhang; Yitai Qian

A new kind of ternary sulfide nanotubes, Cu5.5FeS6.5 nanotubes, was synthesized in autoclaves at 195 °C and it was found that armchair, zigzag and complex arrangements exist in the nanotubes.
