Una de las formas de circulacion de imagenes fotograficas de tematica educacional fue la edicion de albumes conmemorativos. En el album Porto Alegre:biografia de una ciudadeditado en 1940, la educacion esta presente a traves de las imagenes de las edificaciones y de los sujetos fotografiados. Las complejas relaciones entre lo visible y lo invisible pueden ser consideradas clave para la comprension de las formas, a partir de las cuales, el poder construye determinadas visualidades ligadas a la educacion. En las imagenes analizadas, la visibilidad es un imperativo a partir del cual se ven los sujetos escolarizados y suavizados por la cultura escolar. A partir de las imagenes, se construyen los sentidos de orden escolar y urbana. El registro de la educacion en el espacio urbano se realiza a partir de lo que se puede ver y esto es gracias al registro de la luz - la fotografia.

In this paper, we make a journey in time, addressing the relationship between education and heritage and education and museums. The pedagogical bias follows the practices of museums and those related to heritage, although distinctions between them can be perceived. While museums deepened its educational mission in time, policies for the cultural heritage in Brazil only recently incorporated educational practices in their preservation efforts of cultural property. In this context, emerged the so-called heritage education in the context of museums and appropriated by the federal agency for the administration of Brazilian heritage and the educational institutions. The goal is to understand the appropriations and innovations related to the representations and practices concerning memory and cultural goods, whether by museums and heritage management agencies, or by programs and projects in basic education, in order to inspire that reflect and act around the theme of heritage education.

This article establishes relations between photography and narrative, photography and collection. It focuses photographic albums as collections that present a certain narrative configured by the sequential arrangement of the images in their interior. From the images of an album of Porto Alegre cityscapes, it proposes a methodology to approach albums and photographic images in order to build a narrative that creates meaning by trying to unveil a city of modern features.

O artigo examina as permanencias, apropriacoes e alteracoes relativas as praticas e as representacoes que antecederam a fundacao do Museu Pedagogico da Franca, no seculo XIX. Parte da categoria de museus de educacao para definir materiais didaticos, espacos e instituicoes, vinculadas estritamente a instrucao, como uma tipologia museologica particular e insere a emergencia desses museus em um movimento internacional em prol do progresso da educacao. A abordagem dialoga com estudos sobre a historia do patrimonio e dos museus, considerando a singularidade desses museus em relacao aos processos de patrimonializacao correntes de conservacao dos bens culturais do passado. Exposicao, colecao e museu escolar foram nocoes produzidas e postas em circulacao pelos agentes envolvidos no processo, ficando em um segundo plano a perspectiva de valorizacao e conservacao dos tracos do passado.

This text presentes the relation the Museum of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Julio de Castilhos Museum) have with their visitors, between 1903 and 1925, emphasizing the importance of the study of museums in the perspective of history. From the analysis of the reports produced by the director of the institution and the records of visitors was possible to obtain information about public visitation to the museum. The Museum of Julio Castilhos reconciled function scientific and educational legitimizing it self as an institution to seek scientific form, classifying and exhibiting collections of zoology, botany and mineralogy, and seeking to be open to the public. Thus, it was possible to verify the inclusion of the museum within a broader framework of belief in science and education as a way to reach the progress of civilization. The museum, in this view, was an institution that legitimized in society by providing, through direct contact with their collections, the necessary subsidies to an education grounded in scientific paradigms positivists and empiricists.

Photography has been increasingly investigated by Brazilian historians, which has brought into practice different methodological approaches for the analysis of these visual images. In this article, I intend to discuss one of the methodological approaches, which investigates cityscapes found in the photographic albums of Porto Alegre, edited during the 1920s and 1930s.
