Ling Li; Xiao Lan Liu; Hong Yun Geng; Bin Hu; Gong Wu Song; Zu Shun Xu

The adsorption of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution on a HKUST-1/GO (MOFs : HKUST-1) composite was studied in view of the adsorption isotherm, kinetics and regeneration of the sorbent. The adsorption isotherms of methylene blue (MB) on the HKUST-1/GO composite followed both the Freundlich isotherm and the Langmuir isotherm. Adsorption kinetics and thermodynamic parameters were determined from the experimental data. The used HKUST-1/GO could be regenerated by acetone, so it can be recycled for reuse. The high adsorption capacity and excellent reusability make HKUST-1/GO attractive for the removal of MB from aqueous solution.

The adsorption processes of methylene blue from aqueous solution on Fe3O4/HKUST-1 and Fe3O4/HKUST-1/GO composites were compared. The addition of GO has greatly decreased the surface area and pore volume, led to smaller pore size, and enhanced the adsorption capacity of Fe3O4/HKUST-1/GO. The different interesting phenomena and the effect of GO were analyzed. The high adsorption capacity, excellent reusability and stability make Fe3O4/HKUST-1/GO attractive for the removal of MB from aqueous solution.

Resonance Light Scattering Method for Study on the Interaction Between Fluorinated Surfactant Potassium Perfluorooctanesulfonate and DNA

Ling Li; Quan Pan; Zu Shun Xu; Gong Wu Song

Resonance light-scattering (RLS) characteristics of the interactions between fluorinated surfactant potassium perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) with calf thymus nucleic acid (ct DNA) were studied. After DNA was added, aggregation of PFOS on the molecular surface of DNA occurred in the pH 3.5 ∼6.0, which resulted in an enhanced RLS peak at 370 nm. The RLS intensity was found to be proportional to the concentration of DNA. The determination limit was 20.0 μg · L−1. UV-visible (UV-vis) spectra and infrared (IR) spectra both proved the binding changed the confromation of DNA.

Study on the Binding Equilibrium Between Surfactant FC-134 and DNA by Resonance Light Scattering Technique

Ying Xi Wang; Ling Li; Zu Shun Xu; Quan Pan; Gong Wu Song

This article presents the study of binding equilibrium of fluoro surfactant FC-134 to DNA was studied by resonance light scattering. It was found that the interaction resulted in strongly enhanced resonance light scattering signals characterized by the RLS peak at 370 nm. The binding constant Kf and the number of binding n were calculated according to the equilibrium equation, which was established based on the data of the resonance light scattering measurements at 370 nm. It was found that the binding Kf and the number of binding n were 5.98 × 105 and 1.4, respectively.

Study on the Interaction Between Bovine Serum Albumin and Potassium Perfluoro Octane Sulfonate

Ling Li; Gong Wu Song; Zu Shun Xu

The interactions between potassium perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) were studied by fluorescence spectroscopy. The association constants between PFOS and BSA were obtained by fluorescence enhancing and fluorescence quenching respectively. Furthermore, fluorescence quenching was studied at different temperatures, and the binding constant was also determined by the method of fluorescence quenching. According to the thermodynamic parameters, the main binding force could be judged. The experimental results revealed that BSA and PFOS had strong interactions. The mechanism of quenching belonged to dynamic quenching and the main sort of binding force was hydrophobic force. IR-spectra proved the interaction changed the conformation of BSA.

Study on the Langmuir aggregation of sodium octanesulfonate on human serum albumin.

Ling Li; Zu Shun Xu; Gong Wu Song

The microphase adsorption-spectral correction (MPASC) technique was described and applied to the study of the interactions of sodium octanesulfonate (SOS) with human serum albumin (HSA). The aggregation SOS obeys the Langmuir monolayer adsorption. The results show the adsorption ratio of sodium octanesulfonate to HSA is SOS:HSA=18:1.The adsorption constant is K(SOS-HSA)=4.03 × 10(2). The detection limit is 0.036μmol/L. FT-IR spectra proved the binding changed the conformation of HSA.
