Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Menghasilkan soal open-ended menggunakan konteks Sumatera Selatan materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel (SPLDV)Âxa0 yang valid dan praktis di kelas X SMA. (2) Mengetahui efek potensial yang muncul dari pengembangan soal open-ended menggunakan konteks Sumatera Selatan materi SPLDV kelas X SMA. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Design Research tipe Development Study. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MIA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Muara Enim tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah dengan walk through, analisis dokumen, dan tes. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis secara kualitatif deskriptif dan kuantitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) Penelitian ini telah menghasilkan tujuh butir soal open-ended materi SPLDV untuk siswa kelas X SMA yang valid dan praktis. (2) Soal open-ended yang dikembangkan memiliki efek potensial yang positif terhadap hasil tes siswa dimana sebanyak 72,8 % siswa termasuk dalam kategori baik. This research aims to produce a TIMSS characterized math problems that are valid and reliable. The method of this research is Design Research. The sample of this study were 31 students of SMP Negeri 1 Inderalaya. The procedure of this study through the stages of Preliminary Evaluation and Formative Evaluation. Based on the results obtained 7 of TIMSS characterized with characteristics (1) using real-life contexts, (2) using characteristics of TIMSS, and (3) the type of problem-solving that problem logically and empirically validxa0 and reliable. Valid logically be fulfilled from the results of the assessment validator, where the validator comment on the terms of the content, construct, andxa0 language. Valid empirically criteria for both internally for items validity and externally for the whole items validity. Items also expressed reliable with a high level of confidence as the test instrument through items with the analysis result reliability coefficient of 0,703.

The intention of the present study was to see the improvement of students’ intuitive skills. This improvement was seen by comparing the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME)-based instruction with the conventional mathematics instruction. The subject of this study was 164 fifth graders of elementary school in Palembang. The design of this study was a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Experiment. Data was analyzed with the help of SPSS. The result of this study showed that there was different improvement of students’ skills. The improvement was higher in the class using the RME-based instruction that in conventional mathematics class.
