This paper describes maintenance decision support fuzzy system for computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) data analysis in small and medium industries (SMIs). The problems are based on two factors that influence effect of machines maintenance, the downtime and the frequency of machine failures. The objective is to implement both factors into decision making grid (DMG) and then embedded it into maintenance decision support fuzzy system. Next, SMIs can implement this system to support their maintenance decision process.

Small and Medium Industries (SMIs) generate significant contribution in the economic growth in developing countries. To achieve the standard expected product from customers, SMIs must produce marketable product in term of quality, quantity and prices. This requires the investment in technology for supporting daily operation and maintenance management. In previous research, maintenance decision support system has been developed using decision making grid (DMG) model to solve the problem. In this study, the researches apply tri-quadrant technique to cluster the DMG. This study focuses on the effect from the improvement of DMG model in categorizing low, medium and high criterion for the real production floor in SMIs. The result shows not only the reduction of cost and machines downtime but also better reliability on daily maintenance operation.

Nowadays, many industries use the Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) drilling machines in industrial operations. It takes a long time to find optimal tour for large number of nodes (up to thousands). To achieve more effective results, optimization systems approach is required to be equipped in drilling machine. Euclidean Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is one of optimization method that gives fast near optimal solution for the drilling machine movement using novel friendly techniques. This paper describes the development of that CNC PCB drilling machine with novel approach to Euclidean TSP. This design can be widely applied to various CNC PCB drilling machines in small and medium scale manufacturing industries.

The traditional Web-based applications operate only when connected to the network. Many realities in a field require a Web-based application that is applicable even in case of offline. We have proposed the Automated HTML5 Offline Service (AHOS), presented as the integration of advanced services, developing with HTML5 Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to provide Web-based applications with the ability to work offline. When the AHOS Web-based application visits at the Web server for the first time, the Web server will notify the application the list of files required to be downloaded. Then after being downloaded, the Web application can work successfully and continuously even though the network connection from the client to the server is unavailable. Moreover, if the connection to the server is re-connected, any changes that have been made during offline will be automatically uploaded. The present study describes the requirements and implementation stages of AHOS concept for Web-based applications. Several current status and challenges of AHOS concept are also explained. The performance analyses of the AHOS concept are performed in a case of Web-based maintenance Decision Support System (DSS) for Small and Medium Industries (SMIs). The results of the study are very useful in providing in-depth understanding of the advantages and limitations, and as the future directions in applying this AHOS concept to other Web-based applications.

Maintenance management is certainly the important factor to support the successfulness of Small and Medium Industries (SMIs). The SMIs will gain larger profits with the correctness of maintenance system which can minimize the expenses incurred. The application with Decision Making Grid (DMG) for appropriate maintenance strategy has been achieved with favorable outcome. However, the problems, i.e. incompleteness, unavailability and inconsistency of data are the common practice gaps in SMIs. The presences of data gaps cause adverse effects on the DMG process which is certainly not able to provide satisfactory results of maintenance strategies. To overcome the problems, the current research applies the most optimal heuristic adaptive methods of Genetic Algorithm (GA) to generate optimal variable values of machine breakdowns from a DMG process on observed SMIs to be processed into other related problematic SMIs. The combination method has produced remarkable validation results against decision-making of maintenance strategies for all machines with the accuracy of 90,81%. The results deliver the trust toward related SMIs with the data problems or even new concerned SMIs with the absences of data to utilize this DMG-GA method for maintenance decision making which can help maintenance personnel by giving the correct selection of the maintenance strategy.

The research based on the fact that the investment of information technology is needed for supporting daily operation and maintenance management in commonly industries. Although many models with varieties optimization and techniques have been proposed, there are limited actions to be linked into the actual industrial maintenance process. This paper introduce Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) method to provide important maintenance decision strategy for Small and Medium Industries (SMIs). The method is suitable for maintenance decision based on multiple maintenance criterias and their alternatives. In case study, the maintenance contractors selection problem have been demonstrated and the best decision result using maintenance decision support been achieved. The goal of this paper is to illustrate on how SMIs can use AHP to aid maintenance decision in the production plant.
