Metals in Two Species of Fish in Karasu River

Adem Yavuz Sönmez; A. Mutlu Yağanoğlu; Gökhan Arslan; Olcay Hisar

In this study, cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) levels were determined in the tissues (muscle, liver and gills) of two fish species, Capoeta capoeta umbla and Chalcalburnus mosullensis, collected from three stations of the Karasu River. The lowest metal accumulation was detected in the muscle tissues. Moreover there was some variability in the metal concentrations measured in the same tissues from samples obtained from the three different stations. A positive correlation was observed for the concentration of metal pairs Fe–Cu, Fe–Zn, Ni–Pb, Pb–Zn. These findings were also compared with national and international food standards, and Pb and Cd concentrations were determined to be above the level set by the standards. In conclusion, it was supposed that excessive consumption of these two fish species, which already occurs in this region, might pose a public health risk.

Global warming and its impacts are known to cause serious problems in sustainability of natural resources. In this study, change-point analysis and trend analysis were applied to climatic (temperature, precipitation, evaporation) and streamflow data for Tuzla, Gediz and Buyuk Menderes rivers. Box-Jenkins technique and ARIMA model were used for trend analysis. Results showed that there were decreases in streamflow of all rivers. The paper suggests that climate change effects on streamflow could be changeable and that many factors (anthropogenic effects, geographical location, agricultural activities) should be considered. Management strategies specified regionally are required to mitigate the potential climate change effects.

Anahtar kelimeler: Gokkusagi alabaligi, Ogun sayisi, Buyume, Yem degerlendirme ABSTARCT: In this research, the effects of different feeding frequency on growth and feeding conversion of rainbow trout juvenile were investigated. Research was realized in land ponds with 4x3x2 dimensions at 9 ponds established in Research and Extension Center of Agriculture Faculty at Ataturk University. Average fish weight was 15.78±0.76g. Feeding frequents were 1, 2 and 3 times with three replicates. It was found that feeding three times daily was better than that of one or two times feeding with respect to growth and feeding conversion. Key words: Rainbow trout, Feeding frequency, Growth, Feeding conversion

Tum faktorler arsinda istatistiksi fark cok onemli cikmistir. En iyi sonucu yem katilan naylon grup vermistir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Tavuk gubresi, canli yem, kurtcuk A Resarch on Production Larva of Housefly (Musca domestica) Substitution Feed in Trout Farming, From Poultry Manure. ABSTRACT : It was arrived to produce live feed from poultry manure for carnivor fish by take aim at a research at laboratory of Administrade Managership of Agricultural Faculty of Ataturk Universty at 25o C between 1-30 February 2006. Research was conducted as two replicated by usury pine manure, 10% poultry feed mixed manures in metal trays with nylon exhibitions apply to Fully Randomined Research plan. At first harvest, 10 g small worms for per kg manure was determined at 20 th day. And a following 10 days harvest was made dernly at an average 1 g small worme from per kg manure.Differences were very significant between all factors. The best result was determined from the nylon mixed group. Keywords :Poultry manure, live feed, maggot.
