This work analyses Brazilian tropical wood exports, taking into consideration their performance and competitiveness from 2004 to 2011. The present paper aims to: a) determine the competitiveness of exports of goods: sawn wood and tropical plywood; and b) compare the performance of both products. The Constant Market Share model and the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RVAI) estimated competitiveness and performance. The results show that sawn wood has proven to be the only product to provide competitive gains over the analyzed period.

Although enrollment in the last decade in higher education has doubled, productivity recorded by workers in Brazil remained stable, suggesting a low effectiveness of the knowledge acquired by Brazil universities. The University of Brasilia (UnB) has expanded its number of vacancies through the creation of new campuses on the periphery of Brasilia city, for example, the creation of the UnB Faculty of Planaltina (FUP). The FUP was opened in 2006 and offers courses of the Agribusiness Management, Environmental Management, Degree in Natural Sciences and Rural Education. The Environmental Management course (EM) of FUP is new and untraditional, raising the importance of evaluation. Thus, the study aimed to analyze the influence of the academic activities from EM course at employability of its egress, as well as, the interference of these activities in the decision of the former student continue your study. To this end, questionnaires were given to the egress from the EM course of FUP, reaching a sample of 44 forms returned. Among the results highlighted the positive influence of professional internship for the insertion of graduates in the labor market and scientific 1 Professor da Faculdade UnB de Planaltina, Universidade de Brasília (FUP/UnB). In Brazil, monetary environmental compensation occurs in situations in which a project environmental impact cannot be avoided or mitigated, resting to the entrepreneur an obligation to support the implementation and maintenance of a Protected Area. The criteria for choosing the area to be benefited are related to spatial and functional connection with the same. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of monetary environmental compensation, evaluating the spatial and functional connection in the application of the instrument resources. Under these circumstances we assessed if resources generated from environmental compensation tend to be applied in the project site, as well as, if the affected areas benefited belong to the same biome. Results indicated that monetary environmental compensation does not usually occur in the project nearby area; however, in 96% of cases it tends to occur in the same biome.
