Vehicle plate number is a unique combination of characters and numbers. Hence, it has been used in various application as personal identification such as for parking system identification, security monitoring system and etc. This paper illustrated the double edge detection technique in order to enhance the vehicle plate image, before character recognition process. Firstly, the vehicle image is captured, and then it will be re-sized and cropped until the resolution of image is 300×300. After the re-sized process, First Edge detection is applied to the image. Threshold of black and white are 59 and 60 respectively used to change the image into black and white colour only. Next, Second Edge detection is used to remove the unwanted image and only remain the plate number in white colour. MATLAB software is used in this experiment.

Chatter is one of the unwanted noise and vibration phenomenon which are generated during the wiper operation. It is a low frequency and self-excited vibration that is often generated before and after the wiper reverses its direction. This leads to a poor visibility and annoying sound to the driver and passengers. Therefore, this paper is aimed to propose a technique that can be apply to tackle this problem. Hence, an existing two-dimensional mathematical model of a wiper system available in the open literature is adopted. Firstly, the baseline model is simulated in order to observe its vibration response. Then, an input shaping control scheme is introduced into the baseline model. It is found that the input shaping control scheme can reduce the vibration level approximately by 30 percents from the baseline model.

The rising electricaltariff for domestic usage is a well-known issue due to the increase ofpopulation and the scarce of the natural resources to generate the powersupplies. One of the common appliances which can be found in medium householdis the AC fan (table and ceiling) which is manually in operation to control thespeed. It contributes up to 10% of domestic household power consumption.Malaysia, a tropical country with temperature constantly drops from midnight tomorning from 32 °C to 27 °C. This paper presents an innovation of a SmartController Fan (SMAFAC) as a universal external controller as add-on toautomatically controlling the existing ceiling fan speed. It is designed basedon a microcontroller based system which using the temperature sensor as aninput and automatically trigger and control the capacitor fan regulator circuitto control the speed of the fan. The circuit is designed to interface with thecapacitor fan regulator, thus could reduce the power consumption approximatelyat 27% from 12am to 7am for 30 days.

This study presents the modeling of two dimensional mathematical model of wiper system using Newtonian Law. Two dimensional mathematical models in x- and y-axis is found in differential equation form. The dynamics behavior of wiper system has a good response which instantaneously agreed which input or a disturbance happen during the operation of the system. Besides, in this study also investigated the effect of contact angle response in the flexible wiper assembly for forward and vice versa direction. The control scheme known as input shaping was applied to suppress the reversal noises and vibrations level in system. At the end of this study, the unwanted noise and vibration is reduced more than 25 percent compare with baseline result.
