Qualidade de vida de estudantes de graduação em enfermagem

Este estudo teve como proposito investigar a qualidade de vida de 264 estudantes de Graduacao em Enfermagem. Os dados foram coletados por meio de um questionario e um instrumento de medida de qualidade de vida, o IQV de Ferrans e Powers. As medias obtidas dos escores do IQV para os estudantes foram altas e proximas das medias da populacao geral de Rockford - USA. As medias do IQV nos diferentes anos do curso mostraram queda no decorrer do 2o ano, quando os estudantes sao inseridos no campo pratico, fornecendo subsidios para possiveis intervencoes dos educadores nessa problematica.

Ensino do processo de enfermagem nas escolas de graduação em enfermagem do estado de São Paulo

El objetivo del estudio fue describir como es ofrecida la ensenanza del proceso de enfermeria en las Escuelas de Graduacion en Enfermeria del Estado de Sao Paulo. La poblacion fue de 247 docentes. En la metodologia del estudio fue elaborado un cuestionario, que se envio a los 899 docentes de las 32 instituciones publicas y privadas de pregrado de Enfermeria del Estado de Sao Paulo. En los resultados, con relacion a la ensenanza del proceso de enfermeria, de la totalidad de 147 docentes que ofrecieron algun contenido, 66 (44,9%) docentes son de 19 escuelas privadas y 81 (55,1%)son docentes de 8 escuelas publicas.The goal of this study was to describe the teaching of the nursing process at undergraduate nursing programs in the state of São Paulo. The sample was formed by 247 faculty members. With respect to the study methodology, authors elaborated a questionnaire that was sent to 899 faculty members from 32 public and private nursing schools in the state of São Paulo. Results showed regarding the teaching of the nursing process that, from the total of 147 faculty members who taught the content, 66 (44.9%) were from 19 private schools and 81 (55.1%) from 8 public schools.

A distanásia como geradora de dilemas éticos nas Unidades de Terapia Intensiva: considerações sobre a participação dos enfermeiros

A distanasia apresenta-se como uma das fontes geradoras de dilemas eticos nas Unidades de Terapia Intensiva (UTI). Discute-se o contexto que favorece a pratica da distanasia nesse ambiente, com enfase na utilizacao excessiva do suporte tecnologico. Tecemos comentarios sobre a participacao dos familiares e profissionais envolvidos, principalmente medicos e enfermeiros, considerando-se o papel socio-profissional atribuido a cada um. Pretende-se com as consideracoes apresentadas, fornecer subsidios para a reflexao do tema, com vistas a uma participacao mais ativa dos enfermeiros de UTI nos dilemas eticos relacionados a distanasia.Disthanasia is conceptualized and presented as an ethical dilemma in Intensive Care Units (ICU). The context favoring the disthanasia practice on this environment focusing the excessive use of technological devices will be discussed. The study will approach the family, physician and nurse’s participation in the situations, considering the social and professional role of each one. This study aims to provide support for healthcare professionals to reflect on this subject, aiming the nurse’s more effective participation on ethical dilemmas related to disthanasia.

Avaliação da técnica de lavagem das mãos executada por alunos do Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem

The purpose of this study was to compare the execution and verify the compliance with the handwashing techniques by students in an undergraduate Nursing course. The study was performed with 113 students enrolled in internship programs in healthcare institutions in the city of São Paulo. Data collection occurred through direct observation, using a check-list instrument with the steps of the technique. Students in their 2nd and 3rd year had better results in most steps of the technique, with a statistically significant difference when compared to the 4th year. Compliance with the steps of the technique by the students was very low, since their compliance with half the handwashing steps was lower than 50%. The average amount of students who executed all the steps of the technique correctly was very low, 8.8%. The observed students did not execute the handwashing techniques according to the recommendations.O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar a execucao e verificar a adesao a tecnica de lavagem das maos por alunos de um Curso de Graduacao em Enfermagem. A pesquisa foi realizada com 113 alunos que estavam cumprindo estagio em instituicoes de saude do municipio de Sao Paulo. Os dados foram coletados por observacao direta utilizando um instrumento em forma de check-list com os passos da tecnica. Os alunos do 2o e 3o ano obtiveram melhor desempenho na maioria dos passos na execucao da tecnica, com diferenca estatisticamente significante, quando comparados ao 4o ano. A adesao aos passos da tecnica pelos alunos foi muito baixa, pois apresentaram adesao menor que 50% em metade dos passos. A media de alunos que executou todos os passos da tecnica corretamente foi muito baixa, 8,8%. Os alunos observados nao realizaram a tecnica de lavagem das maos conforme recomendado.

Processo de enfermagem: fatores que dificultam e os que facilitam o ensino

The present study intends to identify how the teaching nursing process in the Graduation Schools of the Sao Paulo State are presented. The population was composed of 247 docents. As part of the methodology a questionnaire was elaborated. It was sent to 899 docents of the 32 public and private nursing schools of the Sao Paulo State. The results demonstrated that the factors that difficult the teaching of the nursing process were bigger in number than the factors that facilitate. However, the teaching of the nursing process, despite the presented difficulties, has been offered to the teachers of public and private schools of the Sao Paulo State.The present study intends to identify how the teaching nursing process in the Graduation Schools of the São Paulo State are presented. Carga de trabalho de enfermagem requerida por adultos, idosos e muito idosos em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva

The study’s objectives were to compare nursing workload among adults, elderly and very elderly patients, including in the analyses the interventions and evolution of the workload between admission and discharge. This prospective longitudinal study involved 600 adult patients in general ICU in four city hospitals in Sao Paulo. The results showed that, independent of the age, it had the similarity of the nursing workload in the admission, as well as in the evolution of the patients’ care. Differences between the groups were observed in the NAS on ICU’s discharge and the following instrument’s items: Monitoring and titration and Hygiene procedures in admission, Respiratory support and Intravenous hyperalimentation in discharge and Mobilization and positioning in discharge and admission. In conclusion, the results evidenced that the age interfered only in specific aspects of the nursing workload required by patients in ICUs.El objetivo fue comparar la carga de trabajo de enfermeria entre los pacientes adultos, ancianos y muy ancianos, incluyendo en las analisis las intervenciones y la evolucion de la carga de trabajo entre admision y alta. Estudio prospectivo longitudinal de 600 pacientes adultos internados en la UCI general de cuatro hospitales de Sao Paulo. Como resultados, independientemente de la edad, hubo similitud de la carga de trabajo de enfermeria en la admision y evolucion de las demandas de cuidados. Diferencias entre los grupos fueron observadas en el NAS en la alta de la UCI y en los siguientes apartados de esta herramienta: Monitorizacion y controles y Procedimientos de higiene, en la admision; Soporte ventilatorio e Iperalimentacion intravenosa en la alta; y Movilizacion y posicionamiento en la alta y admision. Therapeutic intervention scoring system-28 (TISS-28): diretrizes para aplicação

Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System-28 (TISS-28) is a tool that enables the measurement of the nursing work load in Intensive Care Units and the estimate of how grave the disease is. In this study are presented the operational definitions for its application, proposed by a group of specialists in the area, with the aim of rendering uniform the meaning of each of the items and preventing interpretation biases.

Educação continuada da equipe de enfermagem nas UTIs do município de São Paulo

Este estudo e parte de um projeto maior sobre os recursos estruturais das UTIs no Municipio de Sao Paulo, incluindo a analise de sua estrutura fisica, recursos humanos, materiais e equipamentos. Os aspectos relativos as atividades de educacao continuada da equipe de enfermagem sao analisados neste artigo. A amostra estudada foi de 43 UTIs e um questionario respondido pela enfermeira responsavel pela Unidade, o instrumento usado para a coleta de dados. Do total de Unidades estudadas, 34 (79,1%) responderam ter treinamento inicial especifico e 18 (41,9%), programas de atualizacao, os quais enfocam principalmente, revisao de tecnicas e rotinas e atualizacao de patologias. As atividades de educacao continuada sao desenvolvidas predominantemente por enfermeiros das UTIs. Em relacao aos enfermeiros, alem das atividades de educacao continuada desenvolvidas pelo proprio hospital, 50,2% assinalaram ter feito cursos de especializacao ou aprimoramento em enfermagem medico-cirurgica ou em outras areas ou tanto em enfermagem medico-cirurgica como em outras areas. Face ao detectado e considerando o desenvolvimento do enfermeiro de UTI como o de um especialista, algumas sugestoes para o aprimoramento das atividades de educacao continuada nessas Unidades sao apresentadas.This study is part of a project about ICUs characteristics in São Paulo city. This article describes the continuing education programs for nursing staff. 43 ICUs were analysed and the questionnaire answered by the ICU nurse coordinator was used to collect data. Results showed that 34 (79.1%) of the ICUs have initial program for training each nursing staff category and 18 (41.9%) had regular continuing education program focusing primarily on nursing procedures and routines and the update in pathologies. Continuing education programs are developed primarily by ICUs nurses. 50.2% of the nurses answered that they attended specialisation/extension courses too, in Medical Surgical Nursing or in other areas or in both areas. Due to this result and the development of the ICUs nurses as specialists, some suggestions are presented to improve the continuing education program in these Units.

They discuss nursing intervention on primary, secondary and tertiary level of prevention and they alert the nurses of the importance of introducing the topic in nursing education programs.
