Objective: to meet the challenges in building a proposal for continue education in health in hospital institution. Method: the study is characterized as a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory. The study subjects were members of the multidisciplinary team. Results: the results indicate that, despite the difficulties to implement a proposal for institutional education, multidisciplinary team recognizes its importance to the highest professional qualification and qualification of care. Conclusion: the challenges included: overcoming the culture technicist education, bureaucracy and the payment of education in the work process

This study investigates the knowledge and practices of residents in a city in the Northwest of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, regarding the use of the plant Anredera cordifolia in health care. The methodological procedures were exploratory/ descriptive, structured based on a qualitative research. The selection of research subjects occurred through the network of relationships. For data collection, we used semi-structured interviews and participant observation. To analyze the data, content analysis was used. The research results were divided in two groups: the origin of knowledge on the use of the plant Anredera cordifolia and popular knowledge about the use of the plant Anredera cordifolia. This study is relevant for the health sciences and the community, appointing the need for further research to prove the therapeutic efficacy of the plant or not. DESCRIPTORS: Nursing. Aim: to know the knowledge and practices of inhabitants of the urban region of northwestern Rio Grande do Sul, which makes use of medicinal plants as a therapeutic way in health care. Method: qualitative research, an exploratory and descriptive study, with data collection based on semi-structured interviews and participant observation. Total of ten respondents, users of medicinal plants, selected through the network of social relations. The collection took place from July to September 2011. Results: From the thematic analysis, emerged the themes: types of plants and their indications; who indicated the use of the plant. Final Thoughts: most popular indications is compatible with science and knowledge is passed from generation to generation. Therefore, it is considered to be essential that the nurse inserts himself in the community to know or recognize the popular practices, approaching the scientific knowledge, providing complete care to users, respecting their habits and customs.

Reiki is characterized as a complementary therapy which involves the laying on of hands on human beings with the intention to re-establish the physical, mental and spiritual balance. The objective of this study was to identify and analyze the benefits experienced with the practice of Reiki in older individuals with chronic non-cancer pain. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study. Semi-structured interviews, with open and closed-ended questions, were used for data collection. Data were collected between July and August of 2012. The study subjects were ten older patients with chronic non-cancer pain complaints, submitted to five Reiki sessions. The analysis proposed by Bardin was considered to evaluate the results. In conclusion, this therapeutic practice significantly improves chronic pain complaints, in addition to contributing to the balance of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of older people. Pain.Reiki se caracteriza por ser una terapia complementar llevado a cabo a traves de la imposicion de manos en el ser humano con la intencion de restablecer el equilibrio fisico, mental y espiritual. El objetivo de esta investigacion fue identificar y analizar los beneficios experimentados con la practica de Reiki, en sujetos ancianos con dolor cronico no oncologica. Se trata de un estudio cualitativo, descriptivo y exploratorio. Para la recoleccion se utilizo la entrevista semiestructurada, con cuestiones abiertas y cerradas. Los datos fueron recogidos entre julio y agosto de 2012. Los sujetos del estudio fueron diez ancianos con quejas de dolor cronico no oncologica, presento las cinco sesiones de Reiki. Evaluacion de resultados se considera el analisis del contenido propuesto por Bardin. Se concluyo que esta practica terapeutica mejora significativamente las quejas de dolor cronico, ademas de contribuir al equilibrio de las necesidades fisicas, mentales, emocionales y espirituales de los ancianos.
