Mesophase Formation Investigation in Pitches by NMR Relaxometry

Carbonaceous pitches are used as raw materials in advanced carbon products. This work aims at combining solvent extraction methodology with low field nuclear magnetic resonance relaxometry technique in order to characterize heated-treated samples of petroleum pitches. The T1 relaxation times showed two distinct domains: one was referring to the aromatic region and the other one was attributed to mesophase. The results also evidenced that the 1H NMR relaxometry could be used as a new tool for the characterization of this kind of system.

TURISMO SOLIDÁRIO NO COMPLEXO DO ALEMÃO: PROPOSTA DE DESENVOLVIMENTO SUSTENTÁVEL

O turismo representa um dos segmentos da economia que mais se destaca no cenario nacional e, ate mesmo, internacional. Esta atividade, devido as suas caracteristicas de interacao com diversos segmentos da economia, possibilita gerar impactos de ordem direta e indireta promovendo o desenvolvimento. Este trabalho e resultado de pesquisa que busca estudar a viabilidade do turismo nas favelas do Complexo do Alemao, Rio de Janeiro, com vistas ao desenvolvimento da localidade. Os dados do estudo foram obtidos por meio de visitas tecnicas e entrevistas com profissionais do mercado do turismo e de areas afins e, ainda, a moradores de varios bairros de distintas classes sociais e culturais da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, a fim de verificar a opiniao das pessoas sobre turismo em favelas.

Extra long-distance bulk power transmission

Summary form only given. This paper presents a solution for bulk ac power transmission over extra long distance based on an unconventional transmission line that is little longer than a half wavelength (λ/2+). This solution is very convenient to be applied in countries where the generation sites are very distant from the consumption centers. However, it has some restrictions regarding feeding loads at intermediate points. To overcome this drawback, an HVAC tap based on power-electronics converters is proposed. This tap allows feeding local loads as well as integrating power plants to the main circuit without changing the transmission systems electrical characteristic. This paper also presents an application example of a λ/2+ line with an HVAC tap draining and injecting energy from the line.

The title compound, C9H8Br2N2O3, is planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.030 Å) with the exception of the terminal methyl group which lies out of the plane [1.219 (3) Å]. The conformation about the C=N double bond [1.268 (3) Å] is E. An intramolecular N—H⋯N hydrogen bond occurs. Linear supramolecular chains along the b axis mediated by O—H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interactions feature in the crystal structure. These chains are also stabilized by weak C—H⋯N contacts.
