Purpose – Knowledge sharing adoption has been considered as a significant practice for organizations. However, there is a modest empirical confirmation to indicate how these organizations value the richness of their knowledge capabilities. The purpose of this paper is to investigate both transformational and transactional leadership styles that influence employees’ knowledge sharing practices, and the impact of the latter on job performance, and then on firm performance. Design/methodology/approach – Data collected from 179 employees at the higher council of youth in Jordan were empirically tested using structural equation modelling. Findings – The findings revealed that both transformational and transactional leadership styles have significant impact on job performance, and the latter on firm performance. Also, it was found that transactional leadership impacted knowledge sharing, whereas transformational leadership did not. Originality/value – This research proposes a new approach to understand knowledg...

Purpose The paper aims to examine the effect of knowledge management processes (knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing and knowledge utilization) and knowledge management approaches (social network, codification and personalization) on innovation in Jordanian consultancy firms. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire that targets 266 respondents resulted in 216 usable ones with a response rate of 81.2 per cent. To test the research hypotheses, a multiple regression analysis was conducted, in addition to descriptive statistics that provide a background about the respondents. Findings The analysis showed that there is a significant and positive impact of knowledge management processes on innovation in Jordanian consulting firms, as well as a significant and positive effect of codification and personalization approaches on innovation, while the social network approach has a significant negative impact with innovation. Originality/value This is the first study that examines the effect of knowledge management processes (knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing and knowledge utilization) and knowledge management approaches (social network, codification and personalization) on innovation in Jordanian consultancy firms.

This paper is concerned with providing a deep theoretical analysis for the fields of knowledge sharing enablers and knowledge sharing capability. A historical overview of knowledge management is addressed at the beginning to provide the reader with an initial understanding of the concept. Then, knowledge sharing enablers as well as knowledge sharing capability concepts are reviewed. Also, the links among knowledge sharing enablers, knowledge sharing capability, and firm performance are discussed through theoretical and empirical studies. This study will be useful for both academia and practitioners as to fill the gap of the incomplete causal chains between knowledge sharing and knowledge sharing capability.

Electronic arbitration (E-arbitration) is usually defined as a method to settle disputes through online platforms providing arbitration services. It constitutes a recent process dispute resolution mechanism between economic agents through the use of information and communication technology. Earbitration is inseparable from the growth of e-commerce and cross-border trade transactions. Contracting parties in such transactions expect a swift, cost-effective and efficient dispute resolution mechanism. It is no coincidence therefore that an increasing number of domestic legislations and international regulations adhere to the rules governing E-arbitration. The fact remains that, surprisingly, the Lebanese regulatory framework puts several obstacles to the successful implementation of E-arbitration in Lebanon. In this respect, this contribution endeavors to identify the scope of such obstacles, and discusses the solutions adopted in other legal frameworks.

This study aims to investigate the impact of intellectual capital on innovation in telecommunication companies in Jordan, through the presence of knowledge management as a mediator. Data were collected using a self-administrated questionnaire from 498 employees working in three telecommunication companies in Jordan. Structural equation modelling approach based on AMOS 22.0 was used to examine the causal relationships and to test the hypotheses between the observed and latent constructs in the proposed research model. The results led to the confirmation of a mediation model as intellectual capital did not have a direct impact on innovation. The results revealed that intellectual capital did have a significant impact on knowledge management and the latter on innovation. In light of these findings, implications to both theory and practice are discussed.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to gain a better understanding of internal benchmarking through the evaluation of quality management in two quality departments (Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC)) in a pharmaceutical company by utilizing total quality index (TQI). Design/methodology/approach – In order to achieve the above-mentioned purpose a structured questionnaire was used to assess the gap between the ideal and current status of the quality management system. The mean differences between the current and ideal states for the eight critical factors were compared for the two departments using t-test. Findings – There is difference in the actual and ideal scores on three out of eight critical factors between the QA and QC departments. Practical implications – The internal benchmarking process which was applied in this case study can be applied in other pharmaceutical companies in order to improve the status of the quality management system and achieve competitive advantage. The purpose of this paper is to study the operational process factors that affect successful strategy implementation in the Middle East.,Five operational process factors were studied (resource availability, communication, operational planning, people, control and feedback). Data were collected using a self-administrated questionnaire from employees who implement and/or are responsible for strategy implementation in 17 pharmaceutical companies. In total, 330 questionnaires were distributed, and a total of 259 were responded with a response rate of 78 per cent.,Findings revealed that four of the operational process factors, namely, resource availability, communication, operational planning in addition to control and feedback, strongly affect the success of strategy implementation. Further, resource availability was ascertained to be the most influential factor, followed by control and feedback, then by communication, while people factor showed no effect on the implementation process.,It is advised that, during the implementation phase, company management should provide staff employees with the necessary training and instructions to link employee performance with the overall reward and compensation system in the organization and to strengthen effective communication and coordination.,This is one of the few studies that cover operational process factors and successful strategy implementation and is the first study to test the model on companies in the pharmaceutical sector in the Middle East.

ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between the acknowledgment of team member’s talents and his/her effectiveness in construction projects. Talents were investigated in terms of ability, aspiration, and engagement dimensions while effectiveness was measured by both, the satisfaction and the communication dimensions. The data were collected by distributing questionnaires on the contracting companies who are executing large building construction. Multiple linear regression was used to test the main hypothesis. The results showed a statistically significant relation between acknowledgment of a team member’s talent and his/her effectiveness in performing their day-to-day tasks. The results of this research may serve as a motive for top management to lead their organization toward the adoption of talent management concept in which a clear definition of desired talents is required and a road map to talent acknowledgment is provided.
