The condensation of 4-acetylthioanisole with different aryl and aryfuryl aldehydes under aldol conditions affords α, β-unsaturated ketones (propenones), which undergo a facile and clean cyclization with hydrazines to give pyrazolines (4–6) in quantitative yields. The structures of newly synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of spectral studies. All newly synthesized compounds were tested for their antibacterial and antifungal activity.

A series of 7-substituted arylidene-1,3-thiazolo[2,3-c]-1,2,4-triazine-4,6-diones were synthesized in an one-pot multicomponent reaction of 6-arylmethyl-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazin-5-ones with substituted benzaldehydes and monochloroacetic acid in the presence of acetic anhydride, acetic acid, and sodium acetate. The structures of the new compounds were supported by IR, 1H NMR, MS, and analytical data. All the new compounds were tested for their antibacterial and antifungal activity. Arylidene thiazolo triazinediones with 1,3-benzodioxolo substituent at seventh and p-chlorophenyl or 2,4-dichlorophenyl substituents at third displayed good antibacterial and antifungal activity. And also compound bearing 2,3,5-trimethoxyphenyl substituent at seventh and 2,4-dichlorophenyl substituent at third displayed good activity.

Phenylthiourea (PTU) has been used as a pesticide and exhibits both herbicidal and rodenticidal activity. The toxic effects of thiourea derivatives seem to arise from disturbing the carbohydrate metabolism and it has been shown that PTU causes chronic goitrogenic and other glandular problems in humans. Thiourea derivatives have also been screened as allergenic factors. Thiourea and its derivatives (including PTU) are used as corrosion inhibitors and as accelerators in the rubber industry. We present here the synthesis and crystal structure of the title thiourea compound, (I).

In the title molecule, C12H15NO2, the oxazole ring adopts an envelope conformation. Overall, the molecule is approximately planar, the dihedral angle between the mean plane through all but the methylene C atom of the five-membered ring and the aromatic ring being 8.6 (1)°. A weak C—H⋯O interaction contributes to the stabilization of the crystal structure.
