The paper is identifying the dominant career anchors among the heads of Slovenia’s market orientated agricultural holdings. The dominant anchors are the safety and stability anchors, followed by the lifestyle anchor. This suggests that the heads of Slovenian agricultural holdings want not only a stable, safe and predictable working environment, but also autonomy and a certain degree of flexibility in organising their work. The career anchors referred to in the agricultural holdings surveyed also indicate a lack of managerial skills among farmers, and there are only few references made to the challenge anchor. The development of agriculture and strong competition are now forcing Slovenian farmers to deal with several challenges, seek new opportunities and manage agricultural holdings in a responsible manner.

V prispevku predstavljamo razvoj in znacilnosti ekoloske pridelave oljk v Sloveniji.

The principles of sustainable development for protected areas give priority to environmental objectives, but the economic and social objectives, have an important development role as well. A version of regional development of protected areas in various landscape types and settlement areas, which has a strong conservation component, is attainable only through a sustainable and responsible, multilevel activation of endogenous development potential. Only in this way it is possible to implement the challenging and necessary transition from passive to active biodiversity and geodiversity conservation.

The paper presents key factors influencing the organic food purchases with special emphasis on characteristics of urban consumers. Brief explanation of conventional and especially organic agriculture development is followed by the theoretical and methodological starting point of research. Based on two case study areas (Ljubljana, Slovenia and Ostrava, Czech Republic), the survey focused on urban consumers. It was possible to analyze socio-economic characteristics of customers, reasons for purchase and purchase habits regarding organic food.

The increasingly extensive hinterland of Ljubljana is due to intensive suburbanization becoming an extremely transitional area with a typical intertwining of urban and rural sociogeographic elements. Among the effects of suburbanization we can certainly deal with the appearance and increase of criminal acts. The data for the year 2002 show that in the Ljubljana urban region there were registered more than 40 % of all criminal acts in Slovenia. By far most of them, almost 30 %, were registered in the Ljubljana municipality. The endangerment is more notably increasing in the other communities of the Ljubljana urban region, above all in those which were captured by the last wave of suburbanization. The increasingly extensive hinterland of Ljubljana is due to intensive suburbanization becoming an extremely transitional area with a typical intertwining of urban and rural sociogeographic elements.
