O aumento da populacao idosa se constitui em uma conquista para a sociedade e dentre as alternativas para promocao e participacao dos gerontes na comunidade estao os grupos de terceira idade. O objetivo deste estudo e analisar a percepcao que idosos do Municipio de Cândido Godoi-RS possuem acerca de sua insercao em grupos da terceira idade. Pesquisa de natureza qualitativa e descritiva, da qual participaram 11 idosos que frequentam um grupo de idosos localizado na area rural do municipio e 9 gerontes participantes de um grupo situado na area urbana. A coleta dos dados ocorreu por meio de entrevista gravada e seu conteudo analisado seguindo os preceitos da analise de conteudo. As informacoes possibilitaram a construcao de uma categoria de analise nominada ‘poder participar de um grupo e ter vida’. Os idosos apontam que o grupo lhes proporciona espaco de escuta, socializacao, valorizacao, manutencao e formacao de novas amizades.

Doi: 10.5902/2179769213002 Aim: to verify the knowledge of patients with cancer in treatment at the oncology service of a public university hospital about their legal rights. Method: this study is descriptive and exploratory and has a quantitative approach. It was performed in the chemotherapy and radiotherapy services. The sample consisted of 73 patients undergoing cancer treatment. The data collection occurred from October to November 2013, through a questionnaire containing socio-demographic and clinical questions as well as questions related to the legal rights of cancer patients. Data were analyzed through simple descriptive statistics using the software Epi Info. Results: among the rights, the best known was the sick pay. The means of communication was the most frequently mentioned source of information regarding the right to preferential treatment in establishments. Conclusions: it is concluded that cancer patients have little knowledge of their legal rights, being recommended that the services of oncology invest in information.

Aim: to understand the participation of the family during the illness trajectory for breast cancer. Method: a descriptive study of qualitative approach, carried out with seven members of two families who suffered the disease of breast cancer. The data collection occurred through a semi-structured interview. The thematic content analysis was used to conduct and analyse data from the theoretical Framework of the Disease Constellation Model. Results: data were organized into four categories: the uncertainty stage, rupture stage, struggling to regain self and recovering well being. Final thoughts: the study enabled the expansion of the knowledge and understanding of family participation before the illness from breast cancer based on a specific theoretical model

Aim: To describe the evaluation that cancer patients and their families make about the telephone calls made in order to reduce their anxiety during radiotherapy treatment. Method: a descriptive and exploratory study of quantitative and qualitative approach, performed in a radiotherapy clinic of a teaching hospital in Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil. Twenty patients who started radiotherapy participated and also 20 families. An interview was conducted for data collection. Data analysis occurred through an organization into categories and after, descriptive statistical analysis. Results: Most patients and families showed moderate anxiety at the beginning of radiotherapy, and rated as important the reception of the telephone calls to ease the anxiety, since the feelings of tranquility and incentive/ encouragement were propitiated by the calls. Final Remarks: Telephone calls reflected positively on the feeling of relief of anxiety of the radiotherapy patients and their families.
