Objective:nto understand the experience and coping strategies in relatives of drug addicts.nnnMethod:na study was developed with 87 relatives of addicts, registered in two Basic Health Units. The focus group was used as the study method, and content analysis was applied.nnnResults:nfour categories were chosen: perception of relatives about the drug addiction of their family members; feelings and attitudes related to being a relative of an addict; difficulties found in the process; and, coping strategies. The findings reflected the difficulty when mentioning the subject, and the need of being cared for. Relatives believed that the addict needs to have the will to get into treatment, and they faced challenges in dealing with sporadic disappearances. They pointed to feelings of pity, impotence, disgust, hate, shame, fear of aggressiveness, and humiliation.nnnConclusion: nthe biggest difficulties were dealing with relapses, and the lack of public resources. Religiosity and faith, isolation and advice were used as coping strategies; ambivalence in thoughts and attitudes was demonstrated.Objetivo: compreender a vivencia e estrategias de enfrentamento de familiares de dependentes de drogas. Metodo: estudo desenvolvido com 87 familiares de dependentes cadastrados em duas Unidades Basicas de Saude, utilizando grupo focal como metodo e analise de conteudo. Resultados: foram encontradas quatro categorias: Olhar dos familiares diante da dependencia dos dependentes; Sentimentos e atitudes relacionados a ser familiar de dependente; Dificuldades encontradas no processo; e Estrategias de enfrentamento. Os achados refletem a dificuldade em lidar com esse assunto e a necessidade de serem cuidados. Os familiares acreditavam que o dependente precisava querer se tratar e mostraram dificuldade de lidar com desaparecimentos esporadicos. Apontaram sentimentos de do, impotencia, desgosto, odio, vergonha, medo da agressividade e humilhacao. Conclusao: a maior dificuldade esteve em lidar com recaidas e na falta de recursos publicos. Religiosidade e fe, afastamento e conselhos foram utilizados como estrategias, e foi demonstrada ambivalencia nas atitudes e pensamentos.

OBJETIVO Comprender la dinamica familiar cuando hay un miembro con Alzheimer en domicilio. METODO Estudio con abordaje cualitativo, Metodo Creativo Sensible (MSC), del que participaron dos familias que tenian en domicilio un miembro con Alzheimer. RESULTADOS Tuvieron origen tres categorias: Repercusiones de la enfermedad de Alzheimer y la dinamica familiar; Proceso de desarrollo de la enfermedad de Alzheimer; y Estrategias de enfrentamiento a la enfermedad. CONCLUSION Fue posible conocer las manifestaciones y repercusiones de la enfermedad de Alzheimer en la familia, como ayuda mutua, movilizacion de recursos para poner en marcha los recuerdos del pasado, espiritualidad y fe. Objective: To understand the family experience of kidney transplantation process of a living donor. Methods: Qualitative study conducted with four families of patients undergoing kidney transplantation of living donor. The research instrument used was a semi-structured interview conducted at the homes of families and recorded audio. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and from the saturation of data, categories emerged. Results: The following categories were observed: impact of chronic kidney disease and dialysis treatment in the family; family experience at different stages facing kidney transplant of a living donor; family interaction with the healthcare team; Resignifying the family system in the process of chronic kidney disease and kidney transplant; and support from social networking and spirituality as coping strategies. Conclusion: Kidney transplantation from a living donor involves aspects of physical and emotional care of everyone involved in the process, considering the potential and experienced adaptations where spirituality is seen as a contributing factor.

Methods: This was a qualitative and descriptive study, conducted with 18 students (second year, Nursing undergraduate course, Federal University of Sao Paulo) who participated in four meetings. These were used as an additional resource in formation of family care. Content analysis as proposed by Bardin was used. Results: Three categories emerged: changes in perception and expansion of the concept of family, and redefinition of ties; identification of similarities, beliefs, values, and rituals in family stories; enhancement of active listening as a strategy for family care. Conclusion: This study contributed to create new strategies for nursing education in family care so far as students could revise concepts and extend contexts based on stories told by participants.
