In this paper, we propose an effective routing protocol that can be particularly applied to SDDC (Sangmyung Direct Digital Controller) BAS. We have used NS (Network Simulator)-2 to simulate the real building for SDDC BAS. The static, session, DV (Distance Vector), and LS (Link State) algorithms are used and the protocols for performance comparison and evaluation are compared with respect to end to end delay, throughput, and routing overhead. The simulation results show that the DV algorithm is effective for SDDC BAS.

Jeong-Uk Kim; Ho-Chan Kim; Chang-Jin Boo

This paper presents the introduction plan of the renewable energy in innovation city. The introduction plan to make the condition of innovation city best should consider the economical efficiency, the quality of life and the sustainable development. The design of balanced city is demanded to build environment friendly and sustainable city. Energy efficient buildings should be designed to deal with the energy efficiency and environment problem. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the energy efficiency and provide the method to introduce the renewable energy system, in various buildings. As a result, the renewable energy plans of each innovation city are suggested and analyzed.

This paper presents an effective energy saving algorithm for lighting control systems using M&V method in various buildings and factories. It is important to aggregate a various demand side resource which is controllable at the peak power time to reduce the energy cost. Previous demand side algorithm appropriate for building is based on peak power. In this paper, we develop the new energy saving algorithm using M&V method to reduce the quantity of power consumption. The simulation results show that the proposed method is very effective.

Chang-Jin Boo; Bong-Woon Ko; Jeong-Hyuk Kim; Seong-Bo Oh

The installation of grounding systems is important for the safe operation of power systems, and the soil resistivity is an important design consideration for such systems. It varies markedly with the soil type, moisture content and temperature. The Jeju geological structure is formed in a multi-layered structure characteristic of volcanic areas and, and the geological ground resistance values can appear even constructed the same areas ground system different from the soil structure. In this study, a mock-up system using representative soil from Jeju was constructed to analyze the variation of the grounding resistance. The mock-up system was configured using the Gauss-Newton algorithm inversion method to analyze the model numerically using the Wenner method through the soil resistivity measurements used to create the ground model. Also, we analyzed the change in the general ground resistance characteristics of the copper rod, copper pipe, and carbon rod that are used for grounding. The variation of the grounding resistance with the hydration status was found to be 2.9[ ],16.5[ ] and 20.1[ ] for the copper rod, copper pipes, and carbon rod, respectively, and the influence of the ground moisture resistance of the carbon rod was found to be the lowest with a value of 141[ ].

Hee-Sang Ko; Su-Hyung Yang; Young Il Lee; Chang-Jin Boo; Kwang Y. Lee; Ho-Chan Kim

This paper presents a modeling and a controller design for a hybrid wind turbine generator, especially with an operating mode of battery energy-storage system and a dumpload that contribute to the frequency control of the system while diesel-synchronous unit is not in operation. The proposed control scheme is based on a robust tracking controller, which takes an account of system uncertainties due to the wind flow and load variations. In order to provide robustness for system uncertainties, the range of operation is partitioned into three operating conditions as sub-models in the controller design. In the simulation study, the proposed robust tracking controller (RTC) is compared with the conventional proportional-integral (PI) controller. Simulation results show that the effectiveness of the RTC against disturbances caused by wind speed and load variation. Thus, better quality of the hybrid wind power system is achieved.

Possibility of groundwater contamination of copper grounding materials by soil corrosion and influx of various aqueous solutions in Jeju island

Sang-Kyu Kam; Seong-Bo Oh; Gae-Myoung Lee; Ho-Chan Kim; Chang-Jin Boo; Young-Ki Jeong

The extent of copper leaching in soil columns packed with black volcanic soils, very dark brown volcanic soils, and dark brown non-volcanic soils and in soil beakers containing copper grounding materials (copper clad steel, copper pipe, and copper plate) were examined using deionized distilled water, HNO3 (pH 3.5) and 3.5% NaCl solution as a leaching solution. Among the leaching solutions, 3.5% NaCl solution highly affected the leaching of copper in soils containing copper grounding materials, except for black volcanic soil and copper clad steel. The effect of HNO3 (pH 3.5) soil on the leaching of copper was not so high because of buffering capacity of soils. The copper in soils and copper grounding materials were not easily leached by a deionized distilled water.
