Preparation and surface-active properties of sulfopropylated N-alkylperfluorooctanamides

Sulfopropylation of perfluorooctanamide or its N-alkyl substituted derivatives gave products which were valuable as anionic surfactants. The amides were prepared by the reaction of ethyl perfluorooctanoate with ammonia orn-alkyl amines (C1-C12), and then treated with 1,3-propanesultone to obtain the desired products. The surfaceactive properties of these compounds were investigated to elucidate the correlation with the chain length of the N-alkyl group. Thus, generally speaking, the N-butyl derivative was found to exhibit properties superior to the others.

Flocculation of Aqueous Kaolin Suspension with Quaternary Ammonium Salts of 2-Vinylpyridine-Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer

2-ビニルピリジンービニルアルコール共重合体 (2VP-VA) の4級アンモニウム塩 (ポリマ-) を2VP-VAへの種々の奥化アルキルの反応により得た. 5%カオリン懸濁液に対する凝集能を沈降速度, 沈降容積そして残留濁度を測定することによりポリマーの構造との関連において研究した. 得られた結果は次の通りであった. 1) いずれのポリマーを用いた場合でも, ポリマー添加濃度が6~20ppmの範囲で良好な凝集効果が得られ, また, これらの条件下で, カオリン粒子の電気泳動移動度は比較的小さい値を示した. 2) 凝集能はi) 幹ポリマーの分子愚の増加に伴って増加し, アルキル化剤の種類よりも幹ポリマーの分子量への依存性は高かった. ii) 水酸基のイオン性基の割合, すなわち (α/FV▲) の増加に伴って増加した, 3) より鎖長の短い臭化アルキルから得られたポリマーが良好な凝集効果を示す傾向がみられた. 4) 凝集作用に適当なpHの値は2~10の範囲であった.

Oxygen-containing Fuels

Growing interest is recently being shown in oxygen-containing fuels because they could alleviate a possible gasoline shortage and, also, reduce the environmental pollution caused by the automobile engine. In this article, a general survey is presented of such oxygen-containing fuels as methanol, methyl tertiary butyl ether and emulsion fuels, and their physical and chemical properties, as well as their preparation and fuel characteristics are discussed.

ピリジンの臭化ドデシルによる四級化反応を,メタノール-DMF,メタノール-DMSO,メタノール-ジオキサン,ベンジルアルコール-MEK,クロロホルム-アセトン,ニトロメタン-DMF,DMSO-MEK,DMSO-ジオキサン,DMSO-THF,DMF-ジオキサン,DMSO-ベンゾニトリル,メタノール-ベンジルアルコール,クロロホルム-ベンジルアルコール,ベンゼン-ベンジルアルコール,ベンゼン-DMSOの各組合せによる二元混合溶媒中で50,75および100℃の温度で試みた。それぞれの溶媒組成の変化に応ずる速度定数,活性化エネルギー,活性化エントロピーを求めて,混合媒体における特殊な反応の様相を明らかにした。活性化エネルギーと活性化エントロピーとのいわゆる等動力学的関係は,ベンジルアルコール-MEK系溶媒の場合以外は成立せず,エネルギー・エントロピー関係図は近似的直線,鍵型,N-型など,さまざまな型態を示した。
