An ontology-supported ubiquitous interface agent for cloud computing — Example on Bluetooth wireless technique with Java programming

Sheng-Yuan Yang; Chun-Liang Hsu; Dong-Liang Lee

This paper focused on designing of a ubiquitous interface agent based on the ontology technology and interaction diagram with the backend information agent system, i.e., OntoIAS, in cloud computing environments. Through the techniques of packet decoding and recognizing, the agent employs the CURRL to transform user commands into internal canonical format to conveniently process those commands by OntoIAS, which can avoid numerous, jumbled, and incorrect information torrents that results in misunderstanding of the information intention of users. In this paper, we preliminarily proposed a ubiquitous interface agent with the Bluetooth wireless technique and related interaction diagrams in cloud computing environments. The system prototype and experiment outcomes can also reveal the feasibility of the system architecture.

An ontological Proxy Agent with prediction, CBR, and RBR techniques for fast query processing

Sheng-Yuan Yang; Chun-Liang Hsu

This paper proposed a three-tier Proxy Agent working as a mediator between the users and the backend process of a FAQ system. The first tier makes use of an improved sequential patterns mining technique to propose effective query prediction and cache services. The second tier employs an ontology-supported case-based reasoning technique to propose adapted query solutions and tune itself by retaining and updating highly-satisfied cases identified by the user. Finally, the third tier utilizes an ontology-supported rule-based reasoning to generate possible solutions for the user. Our experiments show around 79.1% of the user queries can be answered by Proxy Agent, leaving about 20.9% of the queries for the backend Answerer Agent to take care, which can effectively alleviate the overloading problem usually associated with a backend server.

Chun-Liang Hsu; Sheng-Yuan Yang; Wei-Bin Wu

This paper was exploring one of serial issues which derived from mankind life greatly adopting 3C products everywhere when entering 21th century. At present for the purpose of insuring more security and convenience of daily life, most of advanced countries positively invested much money and manpower to research and develop home-security system with hi-tech and have achieved great success. Taiwan owned many such hi-tech implemented by related manufacturers and those benefits coming along with this business created the environemnt in which more advanced techniques and mechanisms for morden home-security were developed to satisfy the need of people. There are two divisions of security system: (1) commerical-security system (2) home-security system. Since the commerical-security system usually needed too much cost to meet the expenditure of ordinary family, the paper tried to develop DIY home-security so as to cost down the expenditure as well as to improve the mechanism of traditional ones with brand-new techniques co-constructed with phone-net, speech-function, and Bluetooth modules.

Constructing transmitting interface of running parameters of small-scaled wind-power electricity generator with WSN modules

Chun-Liang Hsu

The main purpose of this paper was to explore strategies of how to design the interface with brand-new techniques for collecting running parameters of small-scaled wind-power electricity generators as well as its monitoring and controlling Graphic Interface System software. Affected by shortage of oil energy, the whole world was positively developing renewable energy such as solar, wind-power, biologic, tide etc. For Taiwan, the renewable energy policy was actively pushed by government and civic organizations, and how to encourage industrial manufacturers to invest the related technologies of renewable energy; furthermore, to research and develop advanced techniques in this field so that those techniques could create another prosperous business for Taiwan after 3C business. In this study, WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) and its related modules such as ZigBee and Bluetooth would be combined together to construct transmitting interface of running parameters of small-scaled wind-power electricity generator. The study content included building ZigBee wireless network, communication interfaces of ZigBee and Bluetooth with microprocessor, coding and decoding techniques of ZigBee and Bluetooth, and software programming of graphic interface system (GIS). This study was sponsored by Taiwan Education Ministry under Teaching Superiority Project, and the system implemented in real wind-power electricity generator system and the research outcomes has been proved to be very successful and stable.

EOG-based signal detection and verification for HCI

Lawrence Y. Deng; Chun-Liang Hsu; Tzu-Ching Lin; Jui-Sen Tuan; Yung-Hui Chen

In this paper, we proposed an eye-movement tracking system. Based on Electro-Oculography (E.O.G) technology we detected the signal with different directions in eye-movements and then analyzed to understand what they represented about (e.g. horizontal direction or vertical direction). We converted the analog signal to digital signal and then used as the control signals for Human Computer Interface (HCI). In order to make the system “robust”, several applications with EOG-based HCI had been designed. Our preliminary results revealed more than 90% accuracy rate for examining the eye-movement that may become a new useful human-machine user interface in the near future.
