This paper describe the new concepts of collaborative systems quality evaluation. There are identified structures of collaborative systems. The paper define the quality characteristics of collaborative systems. There are proposed a metric to estimate the quality level of collaborative systems. There are performed measurements of collaborative systems quality using a specially designed software.

The paper presents definitions of collaborative systems, their classification and the study of collaborative systems in education. It describes the key concepts of collaborative educational systems. There are listed main properties and quality characteristics of collaborative educational systems. It analyzes the application for the assessment of text entities orthogonality within a collaborative system in education, represented by a virtual campus. It implements a metric for evaluating the orthogonality.

The paper presents an up-to-date view of entities of the cultural heritage sector and their relationships with other domains of human activity as well as the corresponding business models facilitated by modern information and communication technologies. The economic impact of the interactions established between various actors of the cultural economy landscape, such as cultural heritage institutions, digital “facilitators” and public, is described by using a cybernetic representation and a corresponding mathematical model. A particular emphasis is put on mobile technology-based approach to the cultural heritage sector and an example of a practical online virtual exhibition is provided.

Having described the context for collaborative activities (in Chap. 1), and reviewed the basic aspects of computer supported decision-making activities (in Chap. 2), we will present in this section several specific methods used in collaborative decision making. The methods and techniques presented in the chapter are independent of the information technologies upon they are instantiated.

The scope of this article is to highlight how healthcare analytics can be improved using Business Intelligence tools. Healthcare system has learned from the previous lessons the necessity of using healthcare analytics for improving patient care, hospital administration, population growth and many others aspects. Business Intelligence solutions applied for the current analysis demonstrate the benefits brought by the new tools, such as SAP HANA, SAP Lumira, and SAP Predictive Analytics. In detailed is analyzed the birth rate with the contribution of different factors to the world.

The concepts of basic virtual entity and derived virtual entity are presented. Their quality characteristics are defined in the context of multiple accessing by heterogeneous target group members. The development conditions of derived entities are established. For collections of basic virtual entities and derived entities, are constructed and implemented algorithms to ensure and increase the level of security in the virtual environment. To implement a complete set of virtual entities, measurements of the security level are performed, using a special metric built.

There are already accumulations in the business-oriented collaborative informatics systems that require switching to a new generation: data acquisition, increasing the diversity of people that access them, generalization of databases use, multimedia application development, the use of touch screen-friendly interfaces. This paper aims to define the characteristics of the new generation of collaborative business systems, combining semantic with artificial intelligence based on intelligent analysis of content. An architecture of business collaborative systems is presented and metrics are defined in order to realize a quantitative analysis of semantic-oriented business collaborative systems. Experimental results are analyzed to determine the systems behavior in the context of knowledge-based economy evolution.

Abstract Mobile applications structures are presented and their quality characteristics. The development cycle for m-applications is analyzed in the context of ensuring TQM requirements. A system of quality indicators of m-applications is designed and properties of these indicators are analyzed in relation to the operationality and representation of provided results. Practical arrangements for checking the metric for general classes of m-applications are established. The considered experiments come to emphasize the need to use metrics and the aggregate quality indicator.

The goal of this chapter is to provide a historical account of the evolutions in the domain of the book and to set the stage for the concepts and solutions to be presented in the following chapters, including the introduction of the terminology adopted to be used throughout this text. Consequently, we aim at providing the answers to a series of questions, such as: (a) “How the organizations have been evolving over the last decades?”, (b) “Which have been the corresponding trends of the management and control schemes?”, (c) “How management and control functions are allocated to human and automation equipment?”, (d) “Which are the desirable properties of the information processing tools meant to support the human agent to carry out his/her tasks?” The remaining part of this chapter is organized as follows. In the first section, we make a review of the ever increasing complexity of the controlled objects over the last four decades and describe the characteristic features of collaborative networks. Next section contains a historical account of the technology and business-driven evolutions of management and control schemes from hierarchical multilevel control to more cooperative solutions. The third section addresses the role of human agent in management and control tasks. In the fourth section, we present the requirements for the human-centered information tools which are meant to support the activities of the person[s] in charge to make decisions in management and control tasks. A brief review of multi-criteria decision models is made in the fifth section and an interpretation of criteria from a multi-participant decision-maker’s perspective is provided in the fifth, final section.
