Abstract The development of information technologies and new electronic media has changed the classifications of classical educational media taxonomies: new technologies change the practice, and renew the educational usage. In order to integrate these new media, media education must modify its approach, its framwork of theoretical reference and its methods. The article develops first of all the theoretical framework which acts as the conductor to the new training of instructors in the field of ‘Media and Informatics’ (Department of Psychology and Educational Science, University of Geneva, 1996–97). It is principally a question of redefining the concept of media based on Andersons work on communication theories: a medium is above all a human activity which has been brought to completion. Cet article presente une definition des concepts de mediation et de mediatisation dans les dispositifs technopedagogiques de formation a distance. Il analyse l’historique de ces deux concepts, propose une nouvelle perspective permettant de les distinguer et de les articuler. Il s’agit de reserver le terme de mediatisation aux processus d’ingenierie de la formation et de design pedagogique, celui de mediation a l’analyse des effets des dispositifs mediatises consideres des points de vue de l’action, des processus semiocognitifs, relationnels, etc. Les formes et les processus de la mediatisation ont evolues en meme temps que les dispositifs technologiques, notamment les technologies d’Internet et les dispositifs interactifs. Les formes de mediatisation determinent les formes de mediation, parmi lesquelles l’auteur distingue les mediations sensoriomotrice, semiocognitive, relationnelle et technologique. Chaque forme est interdependante mais complexe et demandent une maitrise appropriee sur le dispositif. Mots-cles: mediation, mediatisation, dispositif technopedagogique, formation a distance.

Cet article propose de questionner les pratiques de recherche portant sur les processus d’innovation pedagogique a l’aune de certains concepts decrivant ces processus eux-memes. Il procede en deux temps principaux. Tout d’abord, nous explicitons les forces, mais aussi les insuffisances des modeles de la recherche-action et du praticien reflexif, du point de vue de la comprehension de la dynamique qui determine les pratiques de recherche sur et pour l’innovation. Ensuite, nous proposons d’apprehender cette dynamique selon trois axes : organisationnel, epistemique et historique. L’etude de ces axes requiert des concepts – collectif, espace-temps, objet intermediaire, evenement – qui semblent egalement pertinents du point de vue de l’analyse du processus d’innovation lui-meme. L’ensemble de cette contribution – d’ordre epistemologique – s’appuie sur un projet d’Equipe de Recherche Technologique en Education (ERTe, « Campus numeriques et innovation pedagogique ») engageant cinq terrains de recherches sur et pour l’action.

Abstracts English: In 1996 the Swiss University Conference mandated a group of experts to study the problems of the introduction of information technologies into higher and university education and make some proposals, including the financial aspects. The paper presents the institutional and historical context of this initiative as well as giving an overview of the role of TECFA, the Educational Technologies Unit of the University of Geneva, in this field.

Cette etude s’interesse a l’usage de medias sociaux et a leur role dans les dynamiques relationnelles et les processus decisionnels au sein de groupes d’etudiants en contexte de projet pedagogique. Les resultats montrent que ces medias sociaux facilitent l’efficacite et l’immediatete au sein des groupes et donnent toute sa place a la dimension relationnelle durant le processus de production et la realisation des tâches de leur projet. L’etude s’attache a comprendre quels sont les processus decisionnels adoptes par les etudiants pour creer les meilleures conditions de dialogue et de partage d’idees possibles afin de favoriser l’adhesion de l’ensemble de membres de chaque groupe a leur projet.

This case study presents a blended learning study program offered as a continuing education certificate of advanced studies for post-secondary educators and training professionals in the private, non-governmental, and public sectors. This accredited certificate program is unique in that it allows participants to propose and develop their own practical pedagogical projects. Another distinguishing characteristic is that it is offered in blended learning mode, i.e., alternating face-to-face phases with tutored distance learning phases. The pedagogical team includes one professor and one coordinator who supervise the entire program, as well as external instructors who provide individually tailored consulting on participants’ projects. During their studies, participants experience first-hand, the techno-pedagogical solutions proposed through their implementation within the program.
