Educação em saúde como principal alternativa para promover a saúde do idoso

This is an integrative review aimed to identify the scientific evidence on the educational health actions designed to promote the health of the elderly. A literature search was conducted in Medline, Lilacs, BDENF, CINAHL and in SciELO virtual library databases, by crossing the descriptors Education in Health, Elderly, Aging, Elderly Health, Health Promotion and Quality of Life, including articles conducted with elderly people published from 2003 to 2013, in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Eight articles, which presented quality of life and promotion of healthy aging as a result of health education strategies, were selected. Health education actions for elderly need methodologies that attend the complexity of the aging process and correlate the factors surrounding the individual, such as beliefs, values, norms and ways of life.This is an integrative review aimed to identify the scientific evidence on the educational health actions designed to promote the health of the elderly. Health promotion of lesbian woman: nursing care

The aim of this study was to analyze national and international scientific literature on nursing care for lesbian women. An integrative approach was adopted to review studies from MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF and SCOPUS databases and SciELO and Cochrane libraries using the keywords: female homosexuality, nursing care, health promotion and womens health. Studies published between 1990 and 2013 in English, Portuguese or Spanish were considered for analysis. After analyzing data, four international studies were selected, being that three were from the United States and one was from Canada. This study revealed a scarcity of Brazilian and international studies and the importance of increasing scientific literature on this topic. Descriptors: Homosexuality, female. Nursing care. Health promotion. Womens health.

Health Education Intervention on First Aid in School: Integrative Review

Objective: To analyze the scientific evidence related to health education interventions on first aid in school. Method: Integrative review performed by searching publications in the LILACS, MEDLINE and CINAHL databases and the Cochrane library using the keywords: Schools, First Aid and Emergencies. Results: Six studies were selected in which it was found that educational interventions on first aid were held with various publics at school. The activities performed with the teachers were present in two studies that found an improved knowledge on the subject. Conclusion: The findings reflect the need of preparation for first aid in school and of studies on the subject, in order to subside an evidence-based practice to the professionals performing educational activities in this context.

ESTRATÉGIAS DE COMBATE À DENGUE ATRAVÉS DA EDUCAÇÃO EM SAÚDE: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

This study aimed to analyze, in the literature, what health education strategies are being used to control / combat dengue in Brazil. This is an integrative review developed in databases MEDLINE and LILACS and libraries SciELO and Cochrane, through crossing descriptors Dengue and Health Education. It was found five publications, of which emerged two thematic categories: Models and strategies used in health education and Problems identified in the process of health education. Programs to combat dengue present a model of verticalized, traditional, centered on the transmitter education, which uses unattractive strategies, with the need for changes in current education practices, replacing them with a way that promotes community participation. The articles presented as solution to the failures of the health education the development of strategies that prioritize popular participation and promote integral care. Multidimensional profile of elderly participants of an influenza vaccination campaign

Objective : To describe the multidimensional profile of the living conditions of a group of elderly participants of an influenza vaccination campaign. Method : A cross-sectional study was performed, with data collection carried out between April and May 2010. A convenience sample of 225 elderly persons from 13 municipal health centers in Uruguaiana in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and vaccinated in the national influenza vaccination campaign was used. Subjects were interviewed using a structured script and statistical analysis of the data was performed. Results : Most elderly persons were female (62.2%), aged between 60 and 70 years (64.8%), married (40.4%), had a monthly income below the level of poverty (55.5%), used the Unified Health System (79.1%) and reported having good health (63.5%). Watching TV was one of the most common leisure activities. All the elderly women participants and 94.1% of the total sample were religious, with the catholic and evangelical faiths reported most frequently. Participants in the study described proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle as being most likely to result in longevity. Family and health were among the most important factors in the life of the elderly individuals. Alcoholism, drugs, crime, violence, and political corruption were cited as the main problems for Brazil. All seniors were independent in basic and instrumental activities of daily living. Conclusion : Understanding the living conditions of the elderly assists healthcare professionals and supports the implementation and development of appropriate public policies for this population group.
