The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of black sesame seeds harvested at different times after sowing. The seeds used were derived from four different harvest times (122, 129, 136 and 143 days after sowing). The assessment of the quality of the seeds was determined by standard germination, first count germination, seedling length, electrical conductivity and mass of 100 seeds. The data were submitted to variance analysis, and the evaluation of the electrical conductivity used a 4x4 factorial arrangement (four harvesting times x four soaking times), the significant features were submitted to Tukeys test at 5% significance. The time that provides a higher quality of black sesame seeds is shown by the harvest at 136 days after sowing. However, the standardization of the harvest times due to the physiological stage of the plant should be considered, since the number of days for each phase is specific of each condition.

The harvesting is one of the most critical phases in castor bean seed production system, once physiological quality of the seeds produced in the different types of racemes in the plant can be affected. The aim of this study was assessing physiological quality of castor bean seeds in function of position of the racemes on plant. Castor bean seeds, cv. IAC-226, harvested separately at distinct periods from primary, secondary, and tertiary racemes, or of mixture of seeds originating from the different types of racemes were used. Soon after harvest, the following determinations were performed: moisture content; 1,000 seeds weight; germination; first count of germination; seedling emergence; emergence speed index; and length and dry matter of seedlings. A completely randomized experimental design was used with four repetitions. Data were subjected to ANOVA and means were compared by Tukey test, at 5% probability. The seeds from primary racemes present higher weight and vigor as compared to seeds produced on other types of racemes. Seeds originating from secondary and tertiary racemes present post-harvest dormancy, being this event more evident on seeds originating from tertiary racemes.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the bioactivitt of medicinal lants aqueous extracts in Phaseolus lunatus L. (lima bean) s via through physiological and behavioral health. We the llima bean seeds of the variety Anduzinha ins of medicinal lants aqueous extracs ato 5% (Ocimun gratissimum, Plectranthus neachilus, Vernonia condensata, Cymbopogom citratus, Equisetum sp. and Piper aduncum L.) together with the control (distilled water). The bioactivity was determined by physiological and sanitary qutyies reviews through germination, first counting of germination, speed of germination, root length in the first and last counting, and sanity check. We carried out the analysis of variance and the Tukey test at 5% probability. The aqueous extract of Equisetum sp. promoted beseed physiological quality of the lima bean seed. There was a higher incidence of fungs of lima bean sract that received the extract of Plectranthus neacilus).
