Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar o potencial das barreiras reativas permeaveis (BRP) na reducao dos hidrocarbonetos aromaticos BTEX (Benzeno, Tolueno, Etilbenzeno e Xilenos) no solo, provenientes de vazamento de gasolina. O experimento foi conduzido em escala laboratorial, simulando dois tipos de BRP, denominadas de AS (H2O2 + solo) e de ACA (H2O2 + carvao ativado). Foram determinadas as concentracoes dos BTEX na amostra da gasolina ao entrar na BRP e no percolado, em tempos de retencao preestabelecidos de 24; 36; 48; 60; 72 e 84 h, utilizando cromatografia gasosa. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que as duas barreiras reativas reduziram a concentracao dos BTEX, proximo a niveis permissiveis de contaminacao e de prevencao, e a barreira ACA apresentou os melhores resultados.

Nowadays the concern with the protection of areas destined to the public provisioning is eminent, because the water availability is smaller. Among the probable sources of pollution of the waters are the sanitary landfill site, controlled landfill sites and garbage dumps. The processes of soil contamination occur slowly and, frequently, without immediate consequences; however, in long period, they can have serious effects and possibly irreversible. The diagnosis and the visualization of the possible feather of contamination in areas destined to the disposal of residues can be accomplished by using softwares that apply interpolation techniques, transforming X,Y,Z, data and creating thematic maps. With this objective soil samples of one and two meters of depth were collected, and it was obtained the values of electric conductivity and pH for each sample. Then, the results were applied in the Software SURFER32 for the production of the maps. It was clearly noticed in the generated maps, that the contaminated areas with leachate and values of pH values and electric conductivity of the soil were directly proportional, demonstrating the patterns represented in the thematic maps.
