A Distance Measurement Platform Dedicated to Electrical Engineering

Noëlle Lewis; Michel Billaud; Didier Geoffroy; Philippe Cazenave; Thomas Zimmer

This paper presents the remote laboratory eLab, dedicated to electrical engineering education. eLab is a flexible measurement platform that permits to run more than 130 experiments in the fields of electronics and microelectronics. The instructor can choose or create different types of pedagogical scenarios, covering teaching requirements from undergraduate to graduate levels. Furthermore, eLab implementation and use do not require any commercial software. Its reliability has been proven during many practical classes in France and other countries. eLab is now a key component of the Bordeaux University e-Learning material in electrical engineering. In the field of analog integrated circuits design, eLab offers a unique measurement solution, which can be combined to traditional circuit simulation sessions.

Real measures, virtual instruments

Michel Billaud; Thomas Zimmer; Didier Geoffroy; Yves Danto; Hans Effinger; Wilhelm Seifert; Javier Martinez; Francisco Gómez

This paper presents the realisation of a remote lab on a European scale. The involved countries are France, Germany, and Spain. The architecture of the lab is described and the functionality has been tested. It concerns the instrumentation in the field of microelectronics. It has been applied to the characterisation of MOS transistors.

Remote lab experiments for take away

Thomas Zimmer; Michel Billaud; M. Pic; Didier Geoffroy

This paper presents a new approach for the use of an already existing remote lab in the field on electrical engineer education. About 70 experiments representing a wide domain of electronic functions are easily accessible and can be incorporated in an existing teaching environment by an easy copy/paste action. The corresponding data base structure is explained and a typical result is given highlighting the procedure to follow.
