L’influence des motivations entrepreneuriales sur la performance des PME

Compte tenu que l’entrepreneuriat occupe une place importante dans l’ensemble de l’économie canadienne, il est primordial de mieux comprendre les facteurs qui aident ou qui limitent le développement économique des petites et moyennes entreprises (PME). C’est dans cette perspective que cette étude cherche à susciter une meilleure compréhension de l’entrepreneuriat en examinant plus attentivement les motivations d’un échantillon de 375 entrepreneurs provenant des provinces canadiennes de l’Atlantique et de l’Ontario.

Comparative Study of Francophone Male and Female Entrepreneurs Outside Quebec

Abstract This research project deals with the differences that may exist between male and female owners of small retail and service businesses in New Brunswick and northwestern Ontario. The factors considered are personal profile, management practices, and certain characteristics of the enterprise. The principal conclusions drawn are as follows: the results obtained concerning the factors of personal characteristics, characteristics of the enterprise corroborate those obtained from previous studies of the same subject. The only differences discovered concern the higher level of post-secondary education of male entrepreneurs in the group surveyed and their more extensive utilisation of certain management practices. However, when controlling for the size factor, differences in management practices between men and women entrepreneurs became less significant.
