This paper suggests a conceptual reflection on bonds and social network concepts. Four studies that use such concepts are synthesized and their convergences and divergences are discussed. Carvalho synthesizes studies on bonds in child-child interaction. Sampaio is concerned with bonds concerning homeless children and educators. Rabinovich reports observations of families in a Quilombola community. Bastos makes reflections on social network, based on the talks of some mothers during group meetings. The comparison between the studies mentioned, in terms of both concepts, that is, bonds or linkings and social network, shows the convenience of a clear explanation in relation to the meanings in each of the cases, so that the dialogue among different approaches on human relationships can be allowed. This paper suggests a conceptual reflection on bonds and social network concepts.

Elaine Pedreira Rabinovich; Ana Maria Almeida Carvalho

From a follow-up of 0-12 months old children through home visits, a scheme of analysis is proposed in which the concepts of attachment and autonomy, relative to the mother-child relationship, are linked to the concepts of “place” and “space”, relative to the organization of the home environment; both understood as the expression of a “developmental system” including the basic psychobiological organization of the mother-child dyad and the belief systems and the concrete living conditions within which development takes place. A typology is proposed - rigid; flexible; instable; symbiotic - associating the way of living to the way of caring.

The present study aimed at discussing the reasons and expectations of parents when they deliver their children to be educated in a confessional boarding school. As specific goals, this study intended to outline the students’ profile and to analyze the relationship between the institution’s role and the parents’ expectations. The methodological instruments were semistructured questionnaires administered to 20 parents, corresponding to the total amount of new students in that school year, and the researcher’s field diary. Elements of analysis of the boarding school are presented, grouped according to context of compensation, ideal of life, family substitute, growth factor, and academic development. In the conclusion, it is shown that the boarding school is chosen because, according to the parents’ expectations, that environment appears as a privileged context to educate their children in a closed and protected condition and, paradoxically, as a factor for growth and development.

In 1993, the team of researchers of CDH carried out a study on chapter 3 of the Statute of the Child and Adolescent - “The right to family and comrnunity life”, taking into account that the text of the statute needs to be understood in order to be applied. The task was accomplished through the agreement CslA/CDH no. 154/21/93, and the technical team was coordinated by Professor Fernando Lefevre, PhD, with the support of the State Attorney Luiz Paulo Aoki, who elucidated and discussed the legal issues that were implicit in the formulation of the law. The study is divided into three parts: Chapter I - refers to the law (presents the legal text from article 19 to article 52); Chapter 2 - clarification of the article, so that the law text can be understood; Chapter 3 - explains the cultural and psychological bases of the articles. The present study was carried out after two other studies had been previously conducted and published. One of them is about Chapter I, “The right to life and health”, and the other is about Chapter 4, “The right to Education, Culture, Sports and Leisure”, published by CDH with the fmancial support of CBIA, under the title “Planilha para Operacionalizacao do ECA” (Schedule for the Operationalization of the Statute of the Child and Adolescent).
