Qualitative research in order to identify the conceptions of health education that guide the practice of professionals working in the Family Health Strategy with families of children/adolescents with chronic disease. Data were collected from August to December 2011, through semi-structured interviews conducted with 21 professionals in two Integrated Family Health Units in Joao Pessoa-PB. Thematic analysis revealed that some professionals do the essence of health education activities and others do not develop targeted educational practice for this group, not recognizing children/adolescents with chronic illness in their coverage area. We emphasize the need for health professionals to adopt new ways of doing health and guided by dialogic relations that include health education. DESCRIPTORS: Health education. Primary health care. Background: The Kangaroo Mother Care method allows for early hospital discharge and ensures outpatient follow-up care for newborns. This study aim to investigate mothers’ feelings upon returning home and their perceptions of the care delivered by the professionals who conduct the follow-up examination on their newborn at a Kangaroo Mother Care stage three outpatient clinic. Methods and Fidings: An exploratory qualitative study was conducted in August 2015 with a sample of eleven mothers who visited the follow-up outpatient clinic of a public maternity hospital. Semi-structured interviews were performed, and the content analysis technique was used. The analysis resulted in the following thematic categories: “Mothers’ feelings upon returning home” and “Mothers’ perceptions of the care received”. Despite feeling relieved upon returning home, the mothers also felt insecure about caring for their children. However, they were satisfied with the care received at the outpatient clinic. Its limitations are relative to the generalisation of its results. Conclusion: Health education is essential to preparing mothers to return home because it promotes confidence and autonomy in the care of children. The aim of this study was to analyze the registering of preventative actions in relation to child morbidity using information regarding vaccinations, as well as iron and vitamin A supplements, which are recorded in childrens health cards. This transversal study used a quantitative approach and was performed in Family Health Units in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba; the sampling was by convenience and totaled 116 childrens health cards. The data was collected by observing the cards and the analysis was simple, statistical. The highest percentage of children had their vaccination cards up to date (92.2%) and those that did not were aged between 6 and 12 months: 78.9% of the cards did not have records relating to iron and vitamin A supplements and others only had records of one of the supplements being administered. The vaccination status of children in the first year of life was found to be satisfactory; however, discrepancies were observed in the recordings of the administration of iron and vitamin A supplements, which complicates monitoring performed by child health care professionals. It is hoped that this study will contribute to discussions and strategies aimed at improving the monitoring and recording of micronutrients in childrens health cards. The aim of this study was to analyze the registering of preventative actions in relation to child morbidity using information regarding vaccinations, as well as iron and vitamin A supplements, which are recorded in children’s health cards. Objectives: To examine the nursing staff’s perception on humanization of care to newborn infants at risk and to identify actions of the nursing staff that contribute to the humanization of care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit/NICU. Material and Methods: This was a qualitative exploratory study, performed with 10 nursing professionals of a teaching hospital in the state of Paraiba, from March to May 2006, using semi-structured interviews with two guiding questions: In your opinion, what does humanization mean? Which actions of you practice might be considered humanized? The technique used for the analysis was the Collective Subject Speech. Results: the nursing staff sees humanization as an essential factor for care. Such perception is reflected on daily care practices towards infants as an attempt to reduce the impact caused by the stressing environment of the NICU. Conclusion: we highlight the importance of including the family in the care towards the infant by implementing humanization actions that involve the caregiver and the care receiver under an integral perspective.
