Correlação entre leituras de clorofila e níveis de nitrogênio aplicados em feijoeiro

Enes Furlani Junior; Júlio Nakagawa; Luciano José Bulhoes; José A. A. Moreira; Hélio Grassi Filho

Two experiments were carried out at greenhouse conditions in nutrient solution and soil, using six nitrogen levels (28, 56, 84, 112, 140 and 168 mg/L of N) to adjust the chlorophyll meter readings (Minolta SPAD-501) to the nitrogen levels in the bean leaves. Chlorophyll content, leaf area, fresh and dry matter of leaves, N, Ca, Mg and S leaf concentration, and grain yield were evaluated. Good correlations were obtained between chlorophyll meter readings and nitrogen application rates (R = 0.86) and leaf nitrogen concentration (R = 0.75). These results indicate that the chlorophyll meter is a useful device to detect nitrogen deficiency in bean plants.

Cultivares de arroz e idade de mudas para transplantio

Omar Vieira Villela; Enes Furlani Junior

Enes Furlani Junior; Wander Luis Barbosa Borges; Edson Lazarini; Luiz Carlos Fazuoli; Marcelo Andreotti

Coffee cultivars evaluation in marginal region. Coffee cultivars evaluation in marginal region. During the 1980s when the climatological zoning was established in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, Ilha Solteira was classified as inadequate for coffee (Coffea arabica L.) plantations. Research was undertaken to verify whether adaptability of coffee cultivars in a marginal region was feasible for production. Experiment was developed on the experimental farm of the State of São Paulo University, at Selvíria, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, in July, 1998, in twelve cultivars from the Agronomic Institute of Campinas (IAC). Experimental design consisted of randomized blocks with four repetitions, totaling 12 treatments. Results showed that IAC 4045 Cultivar (Red Icatu) and IAC 2944 Cultivar (Yellow Icatu) gave the best results in marginal regions due to better vegetative development

Épocas de início da inundação do solo e altura da lâmina de água em arroz irrigado

Enes Furlani Junior; José Ricardo Machado; Edivaldo Domingues Velini

This research was carried out at the Experimental Station Edgardia of the Faculdade de Ciencias Agronomicas, Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Botucatu, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, during the growing season of 1990/91. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of water depths and the beginning of water application on the rice development and yield. Three water depths (5, 10 and 15 cm) and three water application dates (15, 42 and 74 days after crop emergence) were tested in a randomized complete blocks design, arranged in splitplots. The dates were designed as main plots and the water depths as splitplots. The grain yield was not affected by the water depths. A water admission delay to 74 days after crop emergence reduced the filled grain number and the grain yield and also caused a prolongation of the plant cicle. The water depth of 15 cm reduced the tillering, stem and panicle number. The water application date is the main factor on the reduced grain yield when comparated whith the water depths.

MANEJO DA ÁGUA E UTILIZAÇÃO DE OXYFLUORFEN NO CONTROLE DE PLANTAS DANINHAS NA CULTURA DO ARROZ IRRIGADO NO SISTEMA PRÉ-GERMINADO

Enes Furlani Junior; José Ricardo Machado; Omar Vieira Villela; Edivaldo Domingues Velini

This research was carried out at Pindamonhangaba Experimental Station, Instituto Agronomico, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. During the growing season 93/94 the effects of water exchange, herbicide doses and water admission delay on weed control and rice development yield were evaluated. Herbicide Oxyfluorfen was tested along with two control treatments: TI10 (10 day-water admission delay) and TIPS (immediate water admission, after soil tillage); two doses (1 and 2 L/ha) of commercial product and two water management conditions: CT and ST ( with and without exchange of treated water). The experiment was placed in a factorial design 2 x 2 (doses x water management) compared with TI10 and TIPS in a randomized complete block design. The results showed that the Oxyfluorfen was effective for weed control and selective to rice. Immediate water admission by flooding just after soil tillage, reduced significantly weeds infestation, mainly Echinochloa sp. The water exchange can be supressed after ten days for the water seeded rice. The immediate water admission just after soil tillage, the herbicide use and absence of water exchange reduced the weed population.
