EVOLUÇÃO DO NIVEL DE GASTOS DE TI NO GOVERNO DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO

Vladimir Chagas; Violeta Sun; Érica Souza Siqueira; Nicolau Reinhard

This research explores the level of spendings on Information Technology (IT) undertaken by Sao Paulo State Government and its evolution from 2004 to 2013. It started on the assumption that companies have increased their investments in IT over recent years, as a natural consequence of IT evolution and the large number of new features available. Thus, the relative importance of IT to a company could be measured by the volume of IT spending over the volume of its total expenditure. Results show that Sao Paulo State Government investment in IT has increased in absolute terms over this period, however the portion of total budget invested in IT has not grown, and keeps virtually frozen over last years, at percentages close to 1%, which indicates that the relative importance of IT as a Government priority has not increased. 800x600 This research explores the level of spendings on Information Technology (IT) undertaken by Sao Paulo State Government and its evolution from 2004 to 2013. Vladimir Chagas; Érica Souza Siqueira; Cesar Alexandre de Souza; Edmir Parada Vasques Prado

This paper reports on a study about the e-business adoption level by small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in Brazil, related to equalities and differences between these sizes of companies. This article aims to identify the relationships between the adoption level and some characteristics such as geographic region, size, sector and use of outsourcing in Information Technology (IT) services. The study has used secondary data from TIC Empresas 2011 research, which was composed of a sample of over 3,000 small and medium-sized Brazilian companies, selected through statistical sampling procedures, random selection and weighing, so that analysis involving these data can be extended to Brazilian reality. Main results showed that the most part of enterprises has a very low e-business adoption level, that medium enterprises have significantly higher levels than small ones, and that exists relationships between adoption level and size, sector and use of outsourcing in IT services, but there is no relationship with the geographic region.
