Digital media practices and social movements. A theoretical framework from Latin America

Starting with the alternative digital media experiences that have taken place in the last two decades in Latin America, this chapter proposes a theoretical and methodological framework inspired by the critical tradition of participatory communication for social change as it developed in Latin America. The chapter is structured as follows. Firstly, we underline the latest framework of collective action that has characterized the new cycle of struggles in Latin America. Secondly, we delineate our proposal, which will consider three pivotal aspects of the process of appropriating and using digital media. Afterwards, we explore how the bonds that are formed between the media and the protagonists reflect a “new” community of reference distinguished by horizontal processes. Finally, we analyse how the net activism practice leads the participating people to experience a process of empowerment.

Periodismo narrativo y estética de la recepción. La ruptura del canon y la nueva crónica latinoamericana

The new Latin American journalism reformulates now the chronic and the rol of informing, introducing innovative ways of narrative that updates the legacy of the local narrative aesthetics, as once happened with the publishing boom of Latin American novel that broke the hitherto dominant literary canon, rising a phenomenon of mass consumption and unprecedented reception in the cultural history of Spain and Latin America. Exploring the logic of textual mediation, associated with this process from a critique of the aesthetics of reception elements, provides interesting new conceptions of journalism in the global era. This article discusses how to understand the necessary continuity and breakdown of the boom in Latin American literature with the new generation of writers, in the passage of what some authors synthesized and summarized as the transition of magical realism to realism magical. This is a new generation of Latin American journalists who stands for a renewed narrative journalism and chronic, beyond the impact that supposed the new American journalism and providing new interpretive keys to rethink identity and Latin culture in the regional communication geopolitics.

Citizenship and local development for the participation and digital governance of public administration: innovative experiences in Southern EU Member States

Cyberspace has introduced new relationships into traditional forms of social intercourse and modern symbolic practices and representations. Information and communication technologies are presented as little explored tools of governance, for the construction of new models of participatory citizenship. Concepts like digital governance refer to new ways of interaction between citizens and governments. In this paper, several innovative experiences in Southern EU Member States are analysed, presenting the preliminary discussion about a new strategic vision for social movements that tries to explore new local forms of cultural autonomy for citizens through the appropriation of new ICTs.

La educación superior y los sistemas multimedia de interacción simbólica

E ¡actual desarrolla tecnológico está imprimiendo significativos cambios en la concepción del sujeto yel conocimiento de la realidad social par la transformación de las tradicionales categorías de tiempo y espacio que nos sitúa en el escecompleja y paradójico de nuevos procesos de mediación social no reductibles a los tradicionales parámetros del universo cartesiano. El concepto de navegación cama metáfora de lo dinámica comunicacional contemporánea es indicativo de este proceso de mutación que anticipo una radical transformación de las formas de procesamiento y acceso a la información, según la lógica difusionista y, en palabras de Abraham Moles, “conservadora” de la culturo de masas, que hasta ahora ha venido jerarquizando la división funcional entre emisores y receptores. Las nuevas formas de organización de lo informativo par media de las sistemas digitales de procesamiento de datos han modificado, de este modo, los habituales pautas de consumo y expresión cultural que hacen de hecha viable no sólo la intertextuolidad productiva, teorizada por Bo¡tin, sino incluso la producción textual, potencialmente universalizada, así como sinergias cognitivas como las que apunta De Kerkhove respecto a lo Inteligencia Conectada en las nuevas redes de comunIcación.

Pedagogía de la comunicación y formación de comunicadores.

espanolPreguntarse sobre la formacion de los comunicadores desde el ambito de la pedagogia remite directamente a la estrategia del caracol. Una mir ada hacia dentro para salvaguardarse de las miradas de fuera. La duda d el ciempies plantea a este respecto un dilema metodologico: como disenar caminos alternativos a las autopistas de la informacion. Para ello, sera necesario leer el texto que formaliza el campo academico junto con el contexto que lo define para los actuantes. Se trata mas que nada de mirar etnograficamente la funcion formativa de los comunicadores, con el fin de lograr una descripcion gruesa de la complejidad global que implica pensar la comunicacion desde el ambito comunicativo. Une tâche que paradoxalement a ete peu consideree dans notre metier, malgre la croissante interdisciplinariete entre les branches des sciences sociales.
