The liner supporting structure for the annular combustor of the present invention has a flexible connection member of connecting a structural body constituting a part of the combustor to a liner, the connection member having a first end positioned on a side of the structural body and a second end positioned on a side of the liner, the second end being disposed on an outer surface of an end part of the liner positioned on the side of the structural body; a first fixing means of fixing the first end of the connection member to the structural body; and a second fixing means of fixing the second end of the connection member to the end part of the liner. According to the present invention, even in the case that there is a large difference in linear expansion coefficient between the materials of the liner and the structural body of the combustor for supporting the liner so that a relative displacement is generated between the two due to temperature changes, the structural body of the combustor can strongly support the liner without applying excessive stress to the liner formed by, for example, a ceramics material.

The objective of this study was to adapt The Socially Responsible Consumer Behavior Scale -ECSRC (Roberts, 1996) to Brazil. The main objective of this scale is to evaluate to what degree consumers who tend to express conduct which indicates social responsibility take this conduct into consideration at the moment of product acquisition. Two hundred ninety-eight university students (average 21 yrs old, d.p. = 4.60, 72.4% female) participated in this study. Three factors, which explain 41.1% of the total variance were found through an analysis of the principal axes (PAF) with a Promax rotation. The first factor grouped five items together and was called environmental concern (α = 0.90), the second, concern about recycling, was composed of four items ( α = 0.75) and, finally, six items from the scale were grouped together in the third factor called social concern ( α = 0.70). These results are coherent with the conception that multiple factors are necessary to evaluate consumer behavior, and also, suggest the adequacy of the ECSRC to the Brazilian context.

This article investigates the factor structure of the Stable Affective Relationships Scale (SAR; Reis, 1995). Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses of data from 658 Brazilian undergraduate students with average age 19.9 years old (SD=2.5), are reported. These analyses revealed five factors underlying the items on the SAR (Commitment, Construction, Mutuality, Involvement, and Indulgence) that are important in a stable affective relationship. All five factors presented good reliability (.68<α<.83), items with high (.46<λy <.75) and significant (p<.05) factor loadings. This five-factor structure had a better fit to the data (χ2/df=3.07; GFI=.91; CFI=.97; RMSEA=.056) and was statistically better fitting [Δχ2(111)=676.69, p<.001] than the unidimensional structure. The results also provided support for the validity of these new factors in exploring correlation with independent and interdependent self-construals (Singelis, 1994), basic human values (Gouveia, 2003) and gender differences.

An adequate validation process is fundamental to ensure sound interpretations of test results. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the convergent validity of the SON-R 2½-7[a] with the WPPSI-III and the WISC-III. The test is an abridged edition of the SON-R 2½-7, a Dutch non-verbal intelligence test, with normatization and validation studies done in several European countries. A total of 109 children from three Brazilian states participated in the study. The correlations of the SON-R 2½-7[a] with the WPPSI-III and with the WISC-III were .75 and .69, respectively. The validation coefficients encountered are very similar to the ones found in studies with the SON-R 2½-7 in other countries. The results imply a satisfactory convergent validity of the SON-R 2½-7[a].

The presence of a considerable amount of items with differential functioning can make a test less valid. Therefore, the existence of Differential Item Functioning (DIF) in the intelligence test SON-R 2½-7[a] was investigated. This is the abridged edition of the SON-R 2½-7 with normatization and validation studies realized in various European countries. The data of the Brazilian normatization sample of 1,200 children were used to verify the presence of DIF in relation to gender and region using the IRT method. Of a total of 60 items, 5 items were indicated as having DIF for gender and 13 items as having DIF between regions. It was concluded that the majority of the items were adequate, which makes the use of the test feasible in a national context.
