Por fim, sao apontadas algumas diretrizes de politicas publicas voltadas para o aumento da producao agropecuaria e consolidacao dos clusters de municipios identificados......The present paper aims to analyze the recent spatial dynamics of the agricultural farming and cattle raising sector in the State of Minas Gerais. The focus is on the sector GDP in 1996 and 2006. First, we develop a general characterization of the agricultural farming and cattle raising production in Minas Gerais, including the sector GDP distribution among municipalities. Next, we analyze the relation between the relative municipality’s participation and the specialization level in the sector production. Furthermore, we try to identify patterns of spatial association and cluster formation for the largest municipalities in terms of participation in the sector GDP. Finally, we suggest some public policy recommendation to achieve higher agricultural farming and cattle raising output and to consolidate the identified municipality’s clusters.

This paper aims at exploring some hypothesis to explain why real interest rate and bank spread are so high. We argue that the interest rate problem and bank spread problem are connected. More precisely, one important cause of bank spread is the high level of BCB interest rate. So, the solution of interest rate problem, so that it can converge to the levels observed in other countries, will help to reduce bank spread, and doing so contributing to the reduction of the capital cost of the Brazilian economy.

The paper tried to contribute to the theory of the location of the bank services. At first, there was strong evidence showing that the bank location not only depended on economical factors. The developed model and the results found in the spatial econometrics analysis demonstrated that there is in fact certain spatial dependence in the location strategy of the banks, besides, that the distribution pattern of the agencies in the state of Minas Gerais is being explained through macroeconomics, political and prescriptive factors as well.
