Autoxidative ringverengung von 1,2-bis(trimethylsiloxy)-cyclobutenen

Abstract 1,2-Bis(trimethylsiloxy)cyclobutenes undergo facile autoxidative ring contraction yielding 1-trimethylsiloxycyclopropane carboxylic acid trimethylsilyl esters as major products. The results are discussed in terms of a mechanism involving electron transfer and intermediate formation of dioxiranes.
