A Step towards the Arabic DBpedia

is considered as one of the recently emerging hot topics in the field of Semantic Web due to its importance in adding structure to Wikipedia, the largest online encyclopedia worldwide covering 285 Wikipedia languages. Thought to be a step towards the internationalization of DBpedia, this paper describes the best practices and the efforts performed as part of the work in the deployment of the Arabic DBpedia as a new chapter will be added to the available multilingual DBpedia chapters which can support the maintenance, extraction and enriching of DBpedia especially for those users who their native language is Arabic.

Digital Library Recommender System on Hadoop

DBLP that is considered a digital repository of a massive amount of scientific papers does not have an easy and scalable way for users to find what they need. Our paper introduces a digital library recommender system named DLRS that facilitates the searching process in big data environment based on Hadoop and Hive-Ql as a query engine using MapReduce parallel programming framework.

Semantic annotation for news feeds

Annotation is the process of adding semantic metadata to resources so that data becomes more meaningful. Creating additional metadata by document annotation is considered one of the main techniques that make machines understand and deal with data on the web. Our paper presents a semantic framework that annotates RSS News Feeds. Semantic Annotation for News Feeds Frameworks (SANF) aims to enrich web content by using semantic metadata easily which facilitates searching and adding of web content.

A step towards the linking of the Culture Heritage in the Egyptian museums

Although Culture Heritage is considered one of the domains that attract researchers from different disciplines, however, there is a lack of semantic meaning and interoperability between different heterogeneous sources that have different structures, stored in different formats and placed in different geographical locations. In addition to that, most of the datasets are available in spreadsheet format. The paper on hands aims to improve the semantic mapping of different datasets belonging to the Egyptian museums via proposing and implementing an architecture that enriches these datasets via applying of Linked Open Data techniques depending on two different mapping methodologies; they are CIDOC-CRM and R2RML, showing that they giving better results instead of using each one separately.

Semantic-based digital rights management system for TV broadcasting

According to the digital revolution and the dramatically increasing number of TV channels on different satellites thus a massive content being broadcasted, a copyright and intellectual property infringement problem is occurring due to piracy and misuse of content, especially in developing countries. The abuse of content is leading to a significant money loss to content owners that may cause the collapse of the industry. The paper in hand proposes an architecture that assists content owners to proof and protect their intellectual property via using Digital Right Management System (DRM) that depends on Semantic technologies, as well as fulfilling the needs of TV channels such that they can reuse the content while respecting copyrights rules.
