Understanding and Personalising Clothing Recommendation for Women

In this paper, we introduce an approach for clothing personalized recommendation system that is able to recommend clothing items to women, according to their fashion styles and body types. Thus, our recommendation approach includes three main modules: one for automatically identifying the fashion style, the other for detecting body type, and the third is responsible for recommending clothing categories with models linked to clothing images. Thus, it allows the women to select appropriate clothing options, considering clothing categories that include: dresses, coats, tops, sweaters, jackets. We have evaluated our recommendation approach and preliminary results indicate that it significantly supports the users with adequate clothing choices.

An agent-based tutoring system for learning propositional logic using multiple linked representations

In this paper, we propose an agent-based ITS for learning propositional logic using two linked viewpoints and representations to address the problem on checking the validation of a given argument, articulating syntactic and semantic inference approaches. One motivation for this integration comes from the importance to involve students in two complementary viewpoints, permitting students to make connections between the two viewpoints involving different strategies, used in problem solving situations. Basically, the system works by placing students in a problem-solving situation and providing needed knowledge support based on his performance. We discuss the system and show its architecture and functionality, as well as its implementation details. Through scenarios with adequate coverage, we evaluate the value of the proposed approach and conclude that it is feasible and useful.

In the presence of the actual world context, the importance of knowing the technological resources and making use of them to improve the performance of human activities is realized. Educat ion cannot be laid aside of this reality, on the contrary, it has to be allied and seek for resources to improve even more the process of teaching and learn ing through Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Thus, the dof Araucaria/PR, through the Educational Technology Project, has pro vided access to these resources establishing informatics laboratories, ev aluating and reorganizing the used method, as an example, the accomplishment of the Leader-Teacher function related to the laboratory monitor one. Resumo. Diante do contexto do mundo atual, percebe-se a imp ortância de conhecer os recursos tecnologicos e fazer uso deste s para melhorar o desempenho das atividades humanas. A educacao nao pficar a margem desta realidade, ao contrario, deve buscar meios de aprimorar o processo de ensino e aprendizagem por meio das Tecnologias da I nformacao e Comunicacao (TICs). Assim, o municipio de Araucari a/PR, atraves do Projeto de Tecnologia Educacional, tem viabilizado o acesso a estes recursos com a implantacao de laboratorios de informatica, ae reorganizando os metodos empregados, como por exemplo, a implemen tacao da funcao de Professor-orientador em detrimento a funcao do moni tor de laboratorio.

Study on Machine Learning Algorithms to Automatically Identifying Body Type for Clothing Model Recommendation

The task of automatically identify body type with high accuracy is still a relevant problem in clothing fashion settings. This paper addresses such problem, presenting a study on machine learning techniques applied to classify women’s body shapes, taking into account a small set of body attributes, in order to further find appropriate clothing models. Thus, we perform a comparative study on such techniques to evaluate the accuracy of four classifiers, aiming at selecting the best of them to be used for clothing model recommendation based on rules. Overall, in the conducted computational experiment, Random Forest and SVM methods had the best performance, but the other two had also very good results, demonstrating their effectiveness to automatically identifying body type, serving as a relevant information to be used in our rule-based system to provide clothing model recommendation.

A Knowledge-based Approach for Personalised Clothing Recommendation for Women.

Currently, recommendation system technology has been assumed as a promising approach to contribute to fashion domain in terms of electronic commerce. In this paper, we propose an approach for a clothing personalized recommendation system that is able to help the women to identify appropriate clothing categories together with models linked to clothing images, mainly based on their fashion styles and body types. To achieve this, besides an intelligent user interface, our recommendation approach deals with two main components: the user modeling and the clothing recommendation, which is responsible for recommending fashion clothing items to women. The user modeling is responsible for creating and updating the user model, including two main knowledge-based mechanisms: the first is responsible for automatically identifying the fashion style, and the second is responsible for detecting body type. We evaluated our recommendation approach and preliminary results indicate that it significantly supports the women with choices.

An Approach that Support Multiple Linked Representations Within an Intelligent Tutoring System for Helping Students to Develop Skills on Designing Digital Circuits

This paper proposes an approach that allows an exploration of three linked representations within a tutoring system for helping students in problem solving situations to develop skills on designing digital logic circuits. Specifically, we provide a learning environment by considering situations that essentially consist of mapping a logic expression into another equivalent. This environment can work on two basic situations: (i) the students are asked to solve problems, having the possibility to receive personalized assistance or (ii) the tutoring system resolves problems asked by students. The problems and solutions have to be specified in two symbolic representations: Boolean algebra or Propositional Logic, having each expression automatically mapped into its equivalent expression displayed in gate logic language. The tutoring system architecture is presented, as well as its aspects of implementation. The proposed and implemented approach to the tutoring system was evaluated through scenarios of problems with adequate coverage, demonstrating its feasibility.

An interactive learning environment for assisting students in solving problems on designing of logic digital circuits by using Multiple Representations

In this paper, we propose a Web-based interactive learning environment with a knowledge-based assistant for helping undergraduate students in solving problems on designing digital circuits, focusing the relationship between Boolean algebra and Digital Logic. Particularly, we have addressed problem solving situations that essentially consist of mapping a logic expression into another equivalent, for example, the task of simplifying digital circuits. To do that, we have considered to operate on two symbolic linked representations: Boolean Algebra and Logic, connecting these two representations to a visual one with logic gates. This integration comes from the importance to involve students in three equivalent representations, permitting them to make connections between them. The learning environment contains a knowledge-based assistant that works on a collection of scenarios with several associated problems, where the students are placed in a problem-solving situation. To each problem, there are pedagogical resources needed to provide the students with feedback and knowledge support based on their performance and identified needs. Furthermore, there is an adaptive mechanism that is responsible for how problems should be sequenced or ordered, and even we have designed a switcher mechanism, which permits the students to change from one to another representation. We evaluate our approach by using scenarios and conclude that the system is feasible.

Um Modelo de Referência para Ambientes Virtuais de Aprendizagem na Web: Aproximando as Perspectivas do Autor e do Desenvolvedor

The keynotes goal is to reflect on emergent opportunities for human Discovery (in science), Creativity (in art & industry), and Learning (in education) as processes often occurring serendipitously in individuals and in communities empowered by dynamic Web connections in the global village. These reflections seem to fit best with the mandate of the CBIE Conference: sustainable education.Este trabalho apresenta uma evolucao do assistente inteligente SAE para inferir e fornecer orientacao pedagogica coerente com varias metodologias educacionais, superando uma dificuldade tradicional para este tipo de software, alem de fornecer mais apoio ao ensino-aprendizagem personalizado.O artigo fundamenta-se nos resultados do processo de desenvolvimento de um ambiente web de aprendizagem, ja modelado em dissertacao de mestrado (CABRAL,2006). O sistema tem por objetivo facilitar o acompanhamento das atividades que envolvem a definicao e a elaboracao de pre-projetos de Trabalhos de Conclusao de Curso (TCC). Para atingir tal objetivo o sistema e baseado em uma camada de agentes inteligentes que atuam como colaboradores para execucao de todas as atividades necessarias ao desenvolvimento do TCC. Para que esses agentes atuem de forma satisfatoria no ambiente e necessario o estabelecimento de um processo de comunicacao que possibilite aos agentes agirem em um nivel conceitual mais proximo do ser humano. Dessa forma, este artigo expoe os resultados obtidos ao longo do desenvolvimento dos agentes computacioniais e seus mecanismos de comunicacao.Este artigo descreve o projeto de desenvolvimento de jogo educativo baseado em metodologias participativas, pelas quais estudantes da rede publica de ensino medio idealizam, projetam e desenvolvem prototipos de um jogo sobre Sistema Imunologico e virus da Dengue. O objetivo da pesquisa e verificar os impactos do processo sobre a aprendizagem dos estudantes.O objetivo deste artigo e apresentar resultados de estudo de um caso exploratorio, realizado junto aos alunos de uma Instituicao de Ensino Superior. Como resultados, foram levantados indicadores de avaliacao do Sistema de EaD e identificados problemas, segundo a percepcao dos alunos. A partir dos resultados destaca-se que a Universidade desconhece a metodologia ITIL® e que seria fundamental que fosse implantada uma estrategia do servico (fase inicial da ITIL®), conduzindo a melhoria continua do servico e da infra-estrutura da Universidade.O facil acesso as informacoes devido a difusao da internet possibilita o enriquecimento intelectual, mas por vezes acaba por ser um meio de usufruir do conhecimento de outrem sem mencionar seus creditos/direitos autorais, o que por fim acaba na configuracao do plagio. O plagio no meio academico e uma tarefa dificil de ser controlada, devido o grande numero de trabalhos que sao feitos por uma vasta quantidade de alunos e tambem pelo excesso de tarefas dos professores e pelo pouco tempo que conseguem dedicar para o controle da qualidade e autenticidade dos trabalhos. Com isso, e importante contar com softwares que auxiliem no processo de verificacao de indicios de plagio, desta maneira o presente trabalho vislumbra desenvolver uma nova ferramenta de analise de indicios de plagio bem como aprimorar o metodo DIP – Detector de Indicios de Plagio para auxiliar o docente na verificacao da autenticidade dos trabalhos.A Neuropedagogia promove o confronto sucessivo e simultâneo entre concepcoes tacitas, crencas e valores normativos com esquemas inovadores, criando um espaco entropico e poetico no âmbito da experiencia humana. A natureza da ciencia neuropedagogica exige um modelo fractal de construcao de mundo, sustentado pelo prazer da perplexidade. Busca-se a geratriz e as leis de formacao para atingir a unanimidade sobre o conceito de educacao de pessoas com alta dotacao humana, impossivel de se concretizar, sem o recurso das ideologias filosoficas, cientificas e tecnologias aliadas as eticas.In this talk I will elaborate on the development, implementation and evaluation of the use of online tools for learning, with special attention to games and gamification, sharing and collaboration.
