A Study on the Usability Evaluation of e-Book Interface

As the propagation of smart devices has increased and the variety of the devices also has been diversified, various existing functions are concentrated on these smart devices. One of the phenomena is that the paper-book market has partially transferred into an e-Book market. As the demand of the e-Book has increased over time, the improvement of the types of e-Book on the market can be observed. In this study, the usability evaluation on the interface of the e-Book viewer for the types of application, which can be installed in the smart devices, has been conducted. The items for the usability evaluation of the e-Book were defined, the usage patterns were observed objectively and a questionnaire technique was applied. By analyzing the usability evaluation of e-Book interface, the directions for production and improvement of e-Books have been suggested.

Responsive Web Design According to the Resolution

When smart phones are now commonly distributed, the web accessibility through a mobile has invigorated. Not just because of smart phones, but because so many devices with various resolutions are available in the market, information cannot be correctly displayed on the web of the previous PC and an appropriate web matching with each resolution should be presented. This thesis will suggest a responsive web design optimized to correctly deliver the same information on all devices by changing a layout according to each resolution by using a single source through a media query. This is expected to raise the effect of advertisement by attracting attention of the public with a simple and comfortable design.

Automatic Danger and Directional Detection Method for Headphone Users

Portable audio players remove spatial constraints for listening to music or playing audio and allow us to easily enjoy music by using headphones anywhere and at any time. However, using headphones to listen to music on the street leads to traffic accidents with deadly consequences because people cannot detect dangers, and the number of such accidents is gradually increasing. This study was conducted to suggest a method of enabling headphone users to recognize dangers around them while walking on the street. This method detects and evaluates external danger signals and then controls audio playback to communicate a warning message to users. Furthermore, it can also detect the direction of the origin of the external audio stimulation.
