Highlights • CPPV-1 was found in all females of the study, tested with qPCR.• Was found CPPV-1 in fetal/maternal tissue in the post-mortem examination.• Feline females (with and without Reproductive Failures) were negative for commonly-occurring RF viruses in the same (FIV, FeLV e FHV-1).• Females showed clinical signs only related to RF and abnormalities WBCC.• These results provide the first description of an FPV agent causing only RF-related clinical signs in queens.

In order to investigate the prevalence of viral diseases in vaquejada horses, samples were collected from Quarter Horse and Paint Horse breeds (males and females, aged between 2 and 15 years) from rural and urban areas of Mossoro, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil were collected. The number of samples collected and tested varied with the techniques used: 132 serum samples were tested for vesicular stomatitis (VS) and equine viral arteritis (EVA), 118 for western and eastern equine encephalomyelitis (WEE/EEE), 114 for equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1), and 61 for equine influenza (EI). The techniques used varied according to the disease studied: tests for VS (Ribeirao and Alagoas strains), EVA, EHV-1, and WEE/EEE were performed using the seroneutralization technique in Vero cell cultures, while the test for for EI type-2 (H3N8) was performed using the hemagglutination inhibition technique. The following results were obtained: 39 (29.55%) and 6 (4.54%) VS-positive horses (n=132) harbored the Alagoas and Ribeirao strains, respectively; no animal tested positive for EVA (n=132); 11.01% (n=13) and 0.84% (n=1) animals tested positive for EEE and WEE (total n=118), respectively; and 22 out of 114 (19.29%) horses tested positive for EHV-1. The history of respiratory and reproductive diseases was statistically significantly (p = 0.02) related to the presence of antibodies against EHV-1. This is the first report of the seroprevalence of viral diseases in vaquejada horses in Rio Grande do Norte.Heider Irinaldo Pereira Ferreira1, Cecília Calabuig2, Pedro Augusto Cordeiro Borges1, Ilanna Vanessa Pristo de Medeiros Oliveira1, Débora Alves de Carvalho Freire3, Eliana Monteforte Cassaro Villalobos4, Maria do Carmo Custódio de Souza Hunold Lara4, Edviges Maristela Pituco4, Adriana Hellmeister de Campos Nogueira Romaldini5, Elenice Maria Sequetin Cunha4, Eliana De Stefano6, João Marcelo Azevedo de Paula Antunes7* 1Veterinarians, MSc. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a type of neoplasm that is characterized by infiltration, especially in the bone marrow and peripheral blood, by undifferentiated cells of the hematopoietic system. In general, chemotherapy in dogs with AML is ineffective and patients have an unfavorable prognosis. The objective of this study was to describe a therapeutic protocol for the control of AML in dogs. An eight-year-old poodle bitch presented the history of apathy and weight loss. Further examinations were requested. These corresponded to hemogram, serum biochemistry (alanine Revista Brasileira de Higiene e Sanidade Animal Brazilian Journal of Hygiene and Animal Sanity ISSN: 1981-2965

Problems in gestational development in dogs can be determined by infectious and non‐ infectious causes. Among the non‐infectious causes, trauma during pregnancy, genetic characteristics of the animal, deficit nutrition, thyroid dysfunction, maternal problems and hormonal disorders are found. The majority of the cases are in relation to infectious diseases, one should consider viral, bacterial, fungal and protozoal, which can interfere directly or indirectly in the foetal development. The progression of foetal development may be affected by the direct action of the microorganisms to overcome the placenta, but they are also able to affect pregnancy and release placental toxins by inflammatory processes and, may still cause maternal pathologies, which entail problems such as hyperthermia, hypoxia and endotoxemia, which can result in abortion. Several diseases can trigger pregnancy loss in dogs. This action can be direct by microorganisms, as well as indirectly triggering other problems that lead to abortion. This chapter discusses the infectious aetiologies of reproductive failures (abortion, stillbirth and neonatal death) in bitches.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disorder caused by a reduction in the number of functional nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the postsynaptic membrane. Some infectious neurological diseases can mimic this situation. The study describes a case of MG in dogs, showing the conduct in diagnosis and therapy, in addition to providing the Revista Brasileira de Higiene e Sanidade Animal Brazilian Journal of Hygiene and Animal Sanity ISSN: 1981-2965

In dogs, prostatic calculi in most cases are asymptomatic and are diagnosed through routine imaging method being benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is more frequent prostatic disease that affects dogs. The objective of this manuscript is to describes one case of endogenous prostatic calculi in a dog with BPH. A 18-year-old male non neutered mongrel dog with a 3-day history of decreased appetite, bloody feces and abdominal pain. Swelling occurred in rectal palpation of the prostate. Abdominal ultrasound visualized an increase of prostate and cavitations in its parenchyma. The animal died and at necropsy was viewed a bilateral and symmetrical increase of the prostate with cystic cavitation. During the section of the same, was visualized calculations were compounds by carbonate, phosphate, calcium, magnesium and ammonia, after analyzing physical chemistry. Histopathological prostatic tissue indicated BPH. Prostatic calculi in dogs are incidentally found on routine at veterinary clinics.
