1. Objectives This study aims to evaluate newly developing Sasang Constitution Diagnosis Questionnaire for accuracy and efficiency. 2. Methods Three hundred and twenty eight patients from 4 multi centers are involved in this study. Excluding 16 constitution-unidentified patients and 2 Taeyang-in patients, 310 patients questionnaires are analyzed statistically by their constitutions. 3. Results Sixty one questions are statistically significant in whole 229 questions of Sasang Constitution Diagnosis Questionnaire. We have selected 30 questions from 61 questions by comparing total data from 4 multi centers with those of each center. Thirty questions are made up of 10 body shape questions, 10 appearance questions, 5 character questions and 5 symptom questions. 3. Conclusions There might be needs for revision of character and symptom questions. From results, we suggest to diagnose Sasang Constitution for screening by short-form questionnaire consisted of questions on body shapes and appearances.

Abstract A Pattern Identification Study on the Middle-Aged Women between Sasang Constitution using DSOM In-Seon Lee * , Sooo-Hyung Jeon, Jong-Won Kim * Dept. of OB & GY, College of Oriental Medicine, Dongeui Univ.Dept. of Sasang Constitutional Medicine, College of Korean Medicine, Dongeui Univ.ObjectivesWe carried out this study to know that there is any differences on the health condition of the middle aged womenbetween Sasang coustitution. We used Diagnosis System of Oriental Medicine(DSOM) for diagnosis and determiningpattern identification.MethodsThis research was approved by the Dongeui University Oriental Hospital Institutional Review Board (certificate no. 2011-06). From March 2012 to October 2012, we examined Kupperman’s index, the MENQOL, DSOM, and Sasang Constitution of 291 women from the general population, with ages ranging from 40 to 60 years. And we compared the results statistically by the chi-square test and F-test.Results and ConclusionsWe excluded 4 Taeyangin to analyze because they were few, and analyzed 287 subjects which were 53 Soyangin,131 Taeeumin, and 103 Soeumin.1. The pathogenic factors that showed significant differences were deficiency of qi, insufficiency of Yin, heat on the frequency of the output and deficiency of qi, heat, phlegm on the mean of pathogenic factor score. Deficiencyof qi was higher in Soeumin, insufficiency of Yin and heat were higher in Taeeumin, and phlegm was higherin Taeeumin and Soeumin. Overall, Soyangin tended to be lower than others on both the frequency of the output and the mean of pathogenic factor score.2. The middle aged women with ages ranging from 40 to 60 years tended to be dryness, kidney, damp and became to be blood-deficiency, stagnation of qi, heart easily. Soyangin was more health than others, Taeeumin tended to be heat, phlegm, insufficiency of Yang, and Soeumin tended to be deficiency of qi.Key Words: Menopausal Symptoms, Etiology, Diagnosis System of Oriental Medicine, Statistical Analysis

Dept. of Information Statistics, Dong-eui Univ. Dept. of Sasang Constitutional Medicine, Korean Medical Hospital of Dong-eui Univ. Objective We researched to analyze correlation between menstrual pain and Korean medical diagnosis – Sasang constitution and Pattern Identification through clinical research of the patients of menstrual pain. Method Trial gruop who consists of women with menstrual pain is 193 people, and control group who consists of women without menstrual pain is 101 people. We producted analyzing of their Sasang Constitution and symptom with Diagnosis System of Oriental Medicine(DSOM). This study used chi-square test, two sample t-test, analysis of variance, Wilcoxon’s rank sum test, Kruskal-Wallis test, correlation analysis. Results 1) In trial and control group, Soeumin was the largest and Soyangin was the least. There was’nt statistical significance between trial and control group. 2) In DSOM, deficiency of blood, stagnation of qi, blood stasis, coolness, spleen, kidney and phlegm pathogenic factors showed significant difference. Conclusion There were significant corelation between menstrual pain and Korean mdical diagnosis – Sasang constitution and Pattern Identification.

The effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on spinal α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole-propionic acid (AMPA) receptor subunits in male rats injected with complete Freunds adjuvant (CFA) were investigated. Bilateral EA stimulation (2 Hz, 1 mA) was administered by needle insertion for 30 min once daily at acupoints corresponding to Zusanli and Sanyinjiao, and the thermal thresholds were measured. To examine the changes in the AMPA receptor subunits, the L4-5 segments of the spinal cord were analyzed by qPCR, western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry. The CFA-induced thermal sensitivity of the rat hind paw was significantly inhibited by EA stimulation from day 3 following CFA injection. On day 5 following CFA injection, there were no significant changes in the expression of the AMPA receptor GluR1 subunit in the CFA-injected rats with or without EA stimulation, compared with the control rats. However, the expression of the GluR2 subunit was significantly decreased by CFA treatment. Western blot analysis revealed that the expression of the phosphorylated GluR1 subunit in the control rats was not significantly different compared with that in the CFA-injected rats with and without EA stimulation. However, phosphorylation of the ipsilateral GluR2 subunit was significantly increased in the CFA-injected rats, and this activation was prevented by EA stimulation. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed a greater expression of phospho-GluR2 following CFA injection, which was inhibited by EA stimulation. These results suggested that phosphorylation of the AMPA receptor, particularly the GluR2 subunit, may be important in EA analgesia of CFA-induced inflammation.
