La naturaleza del ejercicio profesional de los enfermeros actualmente, y los caminos de su formacion ganan significado, cuando estos se analizan desde una logica de cruzamientos disciplinarios de saberes interpersonales, interprofesionales e interinstitucionales. Las practicas clinicas, como momentos de aproximacion en la vida profesional surgen como componentes relevantes en el proceso de formacion. En este articulo se explora la naturaleza interdisciplinar del abordaje de la supervision clinica-reflexiva de matriz ecologica con base en la accion, la interaccion y en la reflexion.

This article explains what the Integrated Centre for Teacher Education at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, intends to be. Its origin is set in the context of the existing trends of teacher education in Portugal. The aims of the Centre and the characteristics of its programmes are described. Problems which have emerged during the planning phase are also mentioned.

Technical Rationality and Learning by Reflecting on Action in Teacher Education: dichotomy or complement?

ABSTRACT The applied science view of teacher learning has been criticised as leaving teachers unprepared to face the messy complexity of educational problems. A reflective approach based on an epistemological view of practical rationality has been recommended instead. In this paper the authors reflect on their experience as teachers of an English didactics course based on a psychopedagogical content knowledge approach in a teacher education programme at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. They consider the applied science paradigm and the reflective approach views as complementary rather than dichoto‐mous and stress the role of cognitive flexibility in preparing teachers to cope with novel situations.
