This work presents the study in a beverage industry, in the city of Santa Maria in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, that uses strategic planning in its activities. The research aimed to identify the managing competences of the marketing manager at the studied company. In order to achieve this goal, we studied the Estrada (2007) strategic management model, where we analyzed the present and expected roles and the competences of the marketing manager. In order to collect data, we applied a semi structured interview to the marketing manager, his/her boss and his/her subordinates. We analyze the managing competences that this professional has and should have, for an efficient performs at its functions and the optimization of the company strategic management.

For Technology-Based Firms, international expansion represents an opportunity for growth and value creation. The present study was designed to analyze the role of technology-based companies (TBCs) internationalization drivers on international performance. Therefore, a descriptive research was carried out with a quantitative approach performed through a survey. Data collection happened with 53 Brazilian TBCs located in innovation habitats. These data were analyzed by multivariate statistical technique. The results showed that the determinants of the international performance of Brazilian TBCs, can be set by external influencers (localization in innovation habitats, integration into global productive chains, partnerships and strategic alliances for innovation and government policies) and internal influencers (innovation capability, international market orientation and international marketing skills).

Recentemente, pesquisadores em empreendedorismo vem avancando na investigacao do tema em economias em desenvolvimento. Este estudo objetivou verificar se ha diferenca na tendencia empreendedora dos individuos que trabalham em grandes empresas para individuos que atuam em pequenas e medias empresas (PMEs) brasileiras. Investigou-se ainda a inferencia da geracao e do genero sobre a tendencia empreendedora do individuo. A pesquisa de campo foi operacionalizada por meio de duas surveys , a primeira conduzida com 494 funcionarios de PMEs e a segunda conduzida com 301 funcionarios de uma grande agroindustria. Para analise dos dados adotou-se estatisticas univaridas e bivariadas. Verificou-se que os individuos que exercem atividades em PMEs possuem maior tendencia empreendedora, que as mulheres sao mais empreendedoras que os homens, bem como, a Geracao Y mostra-se mais empreendedora do que as Geracoes X e os Boomers no contexto brasileiro.

This study aimed to identify the economic, social and corporate aspects that influence the cultural adjustment of Brazilian expatriates. To attend the objective, we interviewed two organizational expatriates’ and seven volunteers. The script that guided the interviews was elaborated from Gialain (2009) and Barbosa (2010). For analysis, data were grouped into categories. The results show that both expatriates declare that financial factor was the most important in the decision of expatriation. Still, most respondents indicated expatriation as part of their career-planning while required constant adaptation to different aspects of the destination country. Finally, the organizational expatriates indicated that aspects such as relationships with new colleagues and workload not difficult the adaption in destination country. Respondents were unanimous in stating that family support was essential in the expatriation decision.

A recurrent issue is the absence of relationship between ecological awareness and luxury consumption. In this perspective, this study aims to analyze the ecological awareness and propensity to luxury consumption. The research started from a quantitative and descriptive approach, operationalized by a survey with 253 Internet users in the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil. Results show that subjects, in general, have a high degree of environmental awareness, showing up, however, somewhat likely to use status. It is inferred that both behaviors are not complementary, and the greater ecological awareness lower propensity to luxury consume.
