Three planar InGaAsP/InGaAs/InP p-i-n photodiodes have been fabricated and used in a frequency conversion process of two optically transmitted signals. Nonlinear properties of the photodiodes have been measured. The differences between photodiode characteristics and obtained frequency conversion product level are discussed.

Investigations of optical-microwave mixing process performed on a PIN photodetector are reported in the paper. The planar InGaAsP/InGaAs/InP heterostructure PIN photodiode operating at 1.3 /spl mu/m has been used in an optoelectronic mixer configuration. The nonlinear model of the PIN photodiode has been assumed. The parameters of nonlinear equivalent circuit of the device have been extracted from the measured data. The influence of nonlinear responsivity has been considered. The short mathematical analysis, and measurement results are presented.

This paper presents investigations of optical-microwave mixing process for PIN photodiode. A nonlinear equivalent circuit of the photodiode and a method of circuit extraction are presented. The model of a most significant PIN photodiode nonlinearity - a nonlinear responsivity is proposed. Obtained results of measurements and simulations are compared and discussed.

This paper presents investigations of signal processing algorithms used in FSCW systems for reflection source range estimation in different transmission channels. The three algorithms: IDFT, enumeration and G. Ybarra have been tested. Obtained results of simulations and measurements are compared and discussed.

In this paper the system for 3rd order intercept point measurements of RF amplifiers and mixers is presented. The fragmentary method which bases on narrow band measurements of fundamentals and 3rd order products is described. The decreasing of the measurement time and the spectrum analyzer dynamic range improvement method was presented.

Phased array antennas have received an attention in radiolocation and radar technology due to the fact that there is no need for the physical movement of an antenna and a very fast angle shift of the beam is possible. The need for improving performance in such devices lead to use the optical beamforming. In order to design such system the usage of appropriate dispersion coefficient of time delay lines is required. This paper shows examples of such dispersion coefficient modeling together with possible and useful simplifications.

We describe a short-distance three-channel optical-microwave link with subcarrier multiplexing for transmission of digital and/or analog data between different points of industrial measurement systems. The optical fiber link operates with a Fabry-Perot laser at 1300 nm, multimode fiber and PIN photodiode receiver. From a microwave point of view three carriers with frequencies 600 MHz, 800 MHz and 1000 MHz were chosen. The structure and main parameters of the link are reported and discussed.
