Jitter error spectrum for NRZ D/A converters

Jeffrey Mark Hinrichs; Guoqing Miao

This paper describes the relationship between timing error in D/A converters with NRZ (non-return-to-zero) waveforms and the resulting error spectrum. The approach is mathematically rigorous and provides insight into how the timing error is converted into noise and distortion at the output of the D/A converter. In addition, a simple and accurate behavioral simulation technique is introduced which validates the derived closed form expression(s).
