Objective: To know the social support network of recent mothers in the practice of breastfeeding. Methods: This is a qualitative research of the descriptive type, using assumptions of research participant, accomplished through interview with 21 recent mothers. Results: The family occupied the first place in the reference of the interviewed, represented, mainly, by the mothers of recent mothers and other women in the family. Breastfeeding appears as an act permeated by myths, beliefs and values passed on from generation to generation, being strongly influenced by the social support network who has recently given birth. Conclusion: It is emphasized the importance of knowing, encourage and enhance the presence of social support network who has recently given birth, while breastfeeding, in order to enable their participation and collaboration in membership and maintenance of this practice.Objective: To know the social support network of recent mothers in the practice of breastfeeding. Resultados: La familia ocupa el primer lugar en la referencia de los entrevistados, representado principalmente por las madres de las puerperas y otras mujeres en la familia. El amamantamiento materno aparece como un acto impregnado de mitos, creencias y valores transmitidos de generacion en generacion, siendo fuertemente influenciados por la red de apoyo social de la puerpera. Conclusion: Enfatiza la importancia de conocer, fomentar y valorizar la presencia de la red social de apoyo que ha dado a luz recientemente, durante la lactancia, con el fin de permitir su participacion y colaboracion en adhesion y mantenimiento de esta practica.

Doi: 10.5902/2179769210631 Aim: to know the family influence on breastfeeding and reflect on the role of health professionals in this practice. Method: descriptive qualitative research, using assumptions of participatory research, with 21 postpartum women exclusive breastfeeding or complementary. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed by analysis of thematic content. Results: the experiences of women and people connected to the same wield have a strong influence in the act of breastfeeding. The effective practice of breastfeeding involves the (re)learning of the woman and the support of family and health professionals. Final considerations: health professionals should to approximate the family of actions that involve breastfeeding, in order to meet the knowledge and experiences that permeate this practice and to implement actions that can promote it, protect it and support it.

Aim: to know the perceptions of nurses about transvestites and the technicalscientific preparation to assist them. Method: a descriptive and qualitative field study, carried out in Family Health Strategies, in western Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil, during the second semester of 2014. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with nurses and analyzed based on the thematic analysis. Results: it was identified that the nurses do not know the meaning of being a transvestite, which limits their view to the figure of a man dressed as a woman. Significant gaps in the academic training of these professionals regarding the specificities of transvestite care was perceived. In relation to the professional performance, it was evidenced the lack of knowledge about the public policies and legislation directed to the transvestite population. Conclusion: this research revealed that there is no knowledge of the gender identity of transvestites and that there are limitations regarding the assistential care directed to this public

Aim: To identify the knowledge of nurses from a municipality on the western border of Rio Grande do Sul about the birth plan (PP). Method: Qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, developed with 15 nurses who attended prenatal care in Family Health Strategies (FHS). Data collection took place in April and May 2016. Using a semistructured instrument, the analysis was of content in the thematic modality. Results: Three categories emerged: Birth Plan, what is it?, which addresses the nurses lack of knowledge about PP; The need for training for professional practice, which presents the interest of nurses in training; Possibilities and limitations for PP implementation, in which the nurses report easinesses and weaknesses in view of delivery attention in the municipality. Final considerations: The study allowed a deepening of the thematic, providing reflections to professionals who were included in Primary Health Care.

Aim: to understand the breastfeeding experience in teen mothers. Method: qualitative research developed in a Family Health Strategy in a town in western Rio Grandedo Sul. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with nine teen mothers from April to May 2016. We used the thematic-type analysis. The research project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, opinion n. 1.504.471. Results: results were discussed based on the categories: positive experiences in breastfeeding, ambivalences experienced in breastfeeding and difficulties faced in breastfeeding. Conclusion: it is suggested to nurses that they mobilize, in health education environments, counseling strategies that provide opportunities for teen mothers to express their difficulties, promoting and protecting breastfeeding.

10.5902/2179769212408 Objective: to raise awareness about how the constructions of gender and sexuality influence the prevention of the STDs/AIDS. Method: exploratory, descriptive field research with a qualitative approach. Twelve women assisted at a Basic Health Unit in Uruguaiana/RS were interviewed between September and October 2012. The data was submitted to thematic content analysis. Results: the category “The construction of being a woman and its repercussions in the prevention of STDs/AIDS” showed the necessity to promote gender equality, considering the planning of actions which aim to reduce the vulnerabilities in women’s health. The category “Female sexuality: repercussions in the prevention of STDs/AIDS” showed the sexuality not only as related to purely biological sexual activity, but also understood as an idea of body, relationships, feelings and respect. Final considerations: Nursing plays a fundamental role in health education and in the contribution to the process of women empowerment in relation to their health.
