So far the objective of the concept of TPM has been to increase the effectiveness of production by means of involvement of operative workers at different levels in the assigned tasks. As a result, an enterprise which was focused on profits coming from its basic activity minimized production loss by implementing some preventive measures with regard to technical and technological equipment. Nowadays, the application of the concept of TPM in the area of primary processes may be insufficient to realize the assigned production targets. In the paper there are characterized the support processes which, along with the use of the principles of TPM, constitute a coherent idea while aiming at minimizing loss and not only the production loss.

Abstract The aim of the article is an assessment of management of suppliers who supply industrial entities in spare parts, based on conceptual model concerning selection of suppliers due to different nature of parts in the context of material supply. Therefore, reduction of supply costs in the context of spare parts requires to take different circumstances associated with production process into account. Presented example of implementation of the model in industrial sector allows to observe a real impact of proposed concept on costs structure related to acquisition of spare parts in order to maintain continuity of production, depending on the type of provider.

The purchase and storage of a real inventory plays an important role in carrying out the main manufacturing processes in an industrial enterprise. To optimize its level, with adhering to the rules of reducing the maintenance costs and carrying out production in uninterrupted manner, is a major challenge for manufacturing entities. The volume of stored maintenance part inventories is largely due to the method of using and maintaining the production equipment; therefore, for the effective management of the spare part flow it is essential to define the strategy of repairs of machinery and equipment. The selection of the equipment operation strategy and the resultant repair activities have a significant impact on the spare part purchasing process, which may be varying in character. The aim of the paper is to assess the method of managing spare part inventories in Polish industrial enterprises. The survey covered micro-, small-, medium-sized and large production enterprises (identified by the number of employees), based on the presumption that each of these types of entities, due to conducted operation processes, uses various technical facilities and it is possible to identify the management of that equipment in association with the flow of spare part. Based on the survey results, the paper discusses basic issues related to the consequences of the unavailability of parts, the preparation and structure of spare part orders, and the type of inventories that need to be considered when planning the storage of spare parts.

The aim of the paper is the analysis of the development of electricity management in households using modern information technology - Smart Grid. The experiences of the countries which are crucial for the global economy, such as China or the USA, prove that Smart Grid can be used not only in business but also it can be applied in households. Due to the significant share of households in the use of electricity, combining them into a network using modern IT is to optimize the flow of energy in accordance with the current consumption, providing an opportunity of household management. The application of Smart Grid is also another step in the development of the concept of information society and it can enable the transition to a sustainable power system.
