O imaginário da derrota no esporte contemporâneo

Katia Rubio

PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Derrota; competicao; psicologia do esporte; esporte e cultura. THE COMPETITION AND DEFEAT EXPERIENCE IN CONTEMPORARY SPORTS

Marcio Antonio Tralci Filho; Katia Rubio

The aim of this study is to analyze the formation of the Brazilian Olympic female athletes’ identities and the construction of this social role both in the Olympic scene as in Brazilian social context. The results, when compared with previous researches and the theoretical approach allows to conclude that even after inclusion of the growing Brazilian women in several sports - including pointing out that this did not occur in the form of confrontation, just as in other countries - this does not represent a rethinking of the social roles of the female and male letting to the athletes maintain a separation between sports life and life as a woman.

Ética e compromisso social na psicologia do esporte

Katia Rubio

The contemporary sport and the roll and function of the professionals involved in this context analysis require a comprehension of the complex structure that made the sportive spectacle become the most important contemporary sociocultural phenomenon. Among many important questions in this discussion there is the limit for the performance search and the relation between the public and private dimension in the life of the sportive spectacle protagonists. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the ethic questions involved in the Sport Psychology actuation, pointing the necessity of overcoming the comprehension of Sport Psychology as an specialty that objectives only performance and victory.

Luciane Maria Micheletti Tonon; Katia Rubio

This article aims to discuss kalokagathia (the good and the beautiful) in the passage of the athlete who transcended physical limitations or imperfections imposed by disability to the position of excellence achieved in a career as Paralympic athlete. When it comes to sports, the “imperfect” metaphor points out who people with disabilities are and where they are, when and why sports practices become accessible, and where they are today. Biographical narratives were used as a method, which allowed understanding the transition processes of the athletes studied. All of them were on an Olympic career path when they suffered an accident or illness that physically limited them. What has been seen and heard of these athletes is their love of life shining over any atrophied muscles, darkness in their visual fields or missing body parts.

A hegemonia europeia no Comitê Olímpico Internacional

Sérgio Settani Giglio; Katia Rubio

Although the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has existed for more than a century, it has only had nine presidents in its history. The founder of the IOC Baron Pierre de Coubertin had proposed the internationalization of the entity. This has always been the discourse of the Committee, but little has been done to change the composition of its leadership. Historically there has been a predominance of European leaders and members. The proposal of this article is to make a comparative analysis of the offi cial biographies of IOC presidents available on IOC website with the offi cial documents of the IOC (the Olympic Bulletin and the offi cial website), as well as newspapers of that time (Folha da Manha, Folha de S. Paulo and O Estado de S. Paulo). In summary we have identifi ed other signifi cant elements of each president’s management criticism in newspapers different from the perfect image built by offi cial discourse.
