Sintomas depressivos e ideação suicida em enfermeiros e médicos da assistência hospitalar

Objective: To investigate the presence of depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation among nurses and doctors in hospital care. Methods: This is a descriptive research with quantitative approach, which included 100 subjects - 50 nurses and 50 physicians working in hospitals in the city of Joao Pessoa, Brazil. We used the Beck Depression Inventory, Scale for Suicide Ideation, Beck and a sociodemographic questionnaire with quantitative analysis. Results: Based on the analysis of data showed that 30% of the sample had depressive symptoms - 20% and 10% nursing care. The presence of suicidal ideation was found in 4% sample. It was found also that all of them also had depression, which shows a strong relationship between the two phenomena. Conclusion: The prevalence of depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation among health professionals were elevated. They act contrary to what is expected of this population in view of their professional activities

Prevalence Of Obesity Among Elderly Participants Of A Health Education Service

BACKGROUND: the detection of obesity is shown relevant considering that with aging there is progressive loss of lean body mass and increased the proportion of body fat, and also metabolic changes and reduced physical activities that require increased energy and weight loss, contributing to obesity installation, which in turn exert implications on health and social life of the elderly. Before with these consequences of obesity and its impact on the health of the elderly, the study aimed to identify the prevalence of obesity among elderly participants of a university extension project. nMETHOD: Exploratory and descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The sample is constituted by 96 elderly people of both sexes registered in the project. nRESULT: It appears that the 37 elderly people (38.54%) had some degree of obesity. Obesity classification prevailed 57.63% of non-obese overweight status, while among the obese, 67.57% is in obesity I. nCONCLUSION: It is believed that knowing this reality helps medical and nursing actions in promotion of strategies of healthy lifestyles and encouragement, making interaction for personal responsibility in training for self-care and improved quality of life.

Crack users perceptions of factors that influence use and addiction

The aim of this study was to identify factors that influence and facilitate crack use and factors that make it difficult to give up. This was a piece of qualitative research involving 20 crack users in Joao Pessoa, PB, in 2012. The data were collected using a semi-structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Discourse of the Collective Subject technique. Easy access, curiosity, peer pressure and alcohol/marihuana use were all shown to be factors that influenced crack use and made it difficult to give up. It is suggested that the views and actions taken of the phenomenon of drug addiction be broadened and more comprehensive nursing care provided based on the factors uncovered in this study.

Concepções de usuários de crack acerca da droga

Aim: to understand the conception that crack users have in relation to the narcotic, as well as the difficulties in quitting the addiction. Method: qualitative, exploratory research developed in Joao Pessoa/PB, in 2012, with 20 crack users. Data were collected by a semi-structured form and analyzed according to the Collective Subject Discourse technique. Results: the following core ideas became evident: I knew it was a drug that would bring losses in every way. its bad for the body. easy access to the drug. to go back to the same place where he lives. Conclusion: the analysis of the perceptions revealed that crack users were aware of the harms that the addiction brought to them in every possible way

Risk factors and obesity impacts on the obese elderly lives

1024x768 RESUMO Objetivo : identificar os fatores de risco e as repercussoes da obesidade em idosos obesos. Metodo : estudo descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa, realizada durante os meses de marco e abril de 2013, com 30 idosos obesos cadastrados em uma Unidade de Saude da Familia de Bayeux/PB. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de instrumento semiestruturado e analisados pela estatistica frequencial a partir da apresentacao em tabelas. Foi utilizada uma balanca biometrica da Unidade de Saude, onde foram verificados peso e altura de cada idoso. O projeto de projeto de pesquisa foi aprovado pelo Comite de Etica em Pesquisa, CAAE 13366613.5.0000.5179. Resultados : o uso de alcool (50%), dieta hiperlidica (70%) e falta de atividade fisica (63%) foram identificados como principais fatores associados a obesidade. Conclusao : o s resultados obtidos corroboram para uma reflexao acerca das politicas de saude para atencao aos idosos, nos diferentes contextos. Descritores : Idoso; Obesidade; F atores de Risco. Diabetes mellitus: characteristics of nursing care and assistance to the elderly

ABSTRACT Objective: investigating the characteristics of nursing care provided to diabetic elderly. Method: a descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach, performed in a Basic Family Unit in Santa Rita/Paraiba with 30 diabetic elderly. Data collection was performed with a form, the data analyzed in Excel, often condensed into tables and percentage, discussed in the literature. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, CAAE No. 01543512.0.0000.5179. Results: the procedures effected more often by nurses during nursing consultations were: glucose, weighing, guidelines regarding the application, handling, dosing and care with insulin. Respondents assured themselves satisfied with the nursing care. Conclusion: frailty in nursing care, limited to mechanical and routine procedures. Descriptors: Elderly People; Diabetes Mellitus; Nursing. RESUMO Objetivo : averiguar as caracteristicas da assistencia de enfermagem prestada aos idosos diabeticos. Metodo : estudo descritivo e exploratorio, com abordagem quantitativa, realizado em uma Unidade Basica da Familia em Santa Rita/PB com 30 idosos diabeticos. A coleta foi realizada com um formulario, os dados analisados no programa Excel, condensados em tabelas com frequencia e percentual, discutidos com a literatura. A pesquisa teve o projeto aprovado pelo Comite de Etica em Pesquisa, CAAE n°01543512.0.0000.5179. Resultados : os procedimentos efetivados com maior frequencia pelo enfermeiro durante a consulta de enfermagem foram: teste de glicemia, pesagem, orientacoes quanto a aplicacao, manejo, dosagem e cuidados com a insulina. Os entrevistados afirmaram estar satisfeitos com a assistencia de enfermagem. Conclusao : fragilidade na assistencia de enfermagem, limitada a procedimentos mecânicos e rotineiros. Metodo: estudio descriptivo, exploratorio, con enfoque cuantitativo, realizado en una Unidad Basica de la Familia en Santa Rita/Paraiba con 30 diabeticos de edad avanzada. La recoleccion de datos se realizo con un formulario, siendo analizados en Excel, a menudo condensados en tablas y porcentaje, discutidos en la literatura. La investigacion fue aprobada por el Comite de Etica de la Investigacion, CAAE No proyecto 01543512.0.0000.5179. Resultados: los procedimientos contratados con mas frecuencia por las enfermeras durante las consultas de enfermeria fueron: glucosa, de peso, directrices sobre la aplicacion, manipulacion, dosificacion y de la insulina. Los encuestados dijeron que estaban satisfechos con la atencion de enfermeria. Conclusion: la fragilidad en los cuidados de enfermeria, limitado a procedimientos mecanicos y rutinarios.
