The energy dependence of the angular distributions of protons elastically scattered by the odd nuclei, B 11 , Al, P, Co and Cu, was measured in the energy range from 6 to 7.4 MeV by using the 105 cm Kyoto University Cyclotron. No remarkable energy dependence of the pattern of the angular distributions was found in all the energy and angular ranges studied. It may be concluded that a less energy dependence of the angular distributions of protons elastically scattered by the odd nuclei is due to a less contribution of the compound elastic scattering and moreover a less energy dependence of the compound elastic scattering.

Kiichi Kimura; Isao Kumabe; K. Miyake; Hiroshi Ogata; Kyoichi Miyasita

Using an ionization chamber filled with oxygen, the O 16 ( n , α)C 13 reaction has been observed. The chamber was irradiated with moderated Li-D fast neutrons with continuous energy spectrum, and the output pulses produced by the reaction were registered and the pulse height distribution was determined. We obtained eighteen resonances corresponding to the excited levels of O 17 at (9.66), (9.45), (9.21), 9.07, 8.90, 8.75, 8.52, (8.41), 8.27, 8.06, 7.93, 7.75, (7.57), (7.39), (7.28), (7.16), (7.09) and 6.89 Mev.

OBSERVATION OF THE DEFLECTED ION BEAM TRAJECTORY FROM A CYCLOTRON

Kiichi Kimura; Jun Kokame; Sukeaki Yamashita

A simple and convenient method has been employed to determine the trajectory of the deflected ion beam from a cyclotron. Using several mesh screens across the beam path, the location and angular divergence of the beam in various places can be obtained simultaneously by the holes made by the ion bombardment on these meshes.
