Fumiko Matsuda; Thor Ikegami; Koya Kishida; Kuninori Kimotsuki

This research aims to clarify the distinction between consciousness and actual behavior on dangerous actions among young users of bicycle. About 5000 high school students were selected as the target for this research. As a result, although they had same tendency of doing dangerous actions both boys and girls, the boys had poor recognition of dangerous action more than girls did.

Koya Kishida; Syuuji Hisamune; Thor Ikegami; Tetsuo Matsui

At the mention of purchasing behavior, the survey in 1996 shows that middle-aged and elderly people made significantly more mistakes than young people did. From the survey in 1997, we confirmed that middle-aged people made significantly more mistakes than young people did, and elderly people made significantly more mistakes than children and young people did. Comparing touch-sensor system to push-button system, operating touch-sensor system machines needed longer time and made more mistakes especially for elder age groups.

DATA ANALYTIC APPROACHES TO HUMAN BEHAVIORAL RELATIONSHIPS IN A SURVEY OF ACCIDENTS

Koya Kishida; Yoshio Sugasawa; Tomio Ito

Publisher Summary This chapter presents the data analytic approaches to human behavioral relationships in a survey of accidents. Most analyses of bicycle accidents among traffic accidents have been conducted from the viewpoint of the bicycle rider as the victim, or weaker participant, in traffic. The chapter presents a study that has an objective to reanalyze the bicycle accidents from the viewpoint that the bicycle rider is the actual cause of the accident. The study clarifies what constitutes a dangerous riding style. The chapter presents a survey of the riding styles, such as riding double, riding without lights, riding with traffic, and riding bicycles with multiple gears; actual and near accidents have also been investigated. To extract the cause of accident, the data obtained has been analyzed using Hayashis quantification method III. Using the results obtained, the relationship between riding style and accidents can be explained.

Koya Kishida; Murako Saito; Tetsuya Hasegawa

Average sleep sufficiency of managers who slept more than 7 hr was 6.7, and in the other group which slept less than 7 hr was 5.1. The difference between these two groups was statistically significant at 5% level. The correlation coefficient between sleeping time and subjective fatigue symptoms was — 0.617, Managers who took time for sleeping less than 7 hr complained of the feeling of fatigue more than the ones who took over 7 hr. There was significant correlationship between off-duty hours and sleeping time. Its correlation coefficient was 0.54. The relationship between off-duty time and subjective fatigue symptoms indicated that managers having less than 11 hr of off-duty time complained of the feeling of fatigue more than the ones having over 11 hr (p<0.05)
