Tebu merupakan bahan baku utama dalam industri gula sehingga diperlukan varietas unggul yang memiliki potensi produksi dan rendemen tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penampilan 15 klon tebu unggul harapan hasil persilangan tebu ( Saccharum ) dengan tebu kerabat liar ( Erianthus ) pada dua lokasi pengujian. Bahan tanam yang digunakan yaitu 15 klon tebu dan varietas pembanding yaitu PS 881, Kidang Kencana (KK) dan Bululawang (BL). Data dianalisa menggunakan analisis ragam pada masing-masing lokasi danuntuk mengetahui interaksi genotip dan lokasi dilakukan analisis ragam gabungan yang dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT taraf 5 %.Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober 2012 sampai April 2013 di dua lokasi yaitu di kebun Pusat Penelitian Perkebunan Gula Indonesia (P3GI) di Pasuruan dan Kediri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan penampilan pertumbuhan di dua lokasi meliputi karakter persentase perkecambahan, jumlah batang, tinggi batang, jumlah ruas, intensitas penggerek batang umur 6 bulan dan intensitas penyakit pokahbung.

Buncis ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) merupakan tanaman semusim yang berbentuk perdu. Buahnya (polong) pendek, yakni ± 12 cm, lurus atau bengkok dan warnanya bermacam-macam. Buncis terdiri dua tipe pertumbuhan yaitu tipe merambat dan tipe tegak. Prospek pengembangan buncis masih cukup baik, produktivitas masih dapat ditingkatkan. Teknologi yang cukup mampu memperbaiki produktivitas buncis adalah tersedianya varietas-varietas buncis yang berdaya hasil tinggi serta berkualitas sesuai dengan selera konsumen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi sifat morfologi tanaman buncis sehingga dapat menjadi acuan untuk memilih benih buncis yang berdaya hasil tinggi serta berkualitas. Selain itu untuk mengetahui korelasi antara morfologi tanaman buncis dengan daya hasil yang diperoleh. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada November 2012 sampai Februari 2013 di Kecamatan Pakis, Malang dengan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dan peubah pengamatan meliputi pengamatan pada karakter kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat keragaman sifat morfologi pada enam aksesi buncis yang diuji berdasarkan Descriptor List for Phaseolus vulgaris , kemudian untuk korelasi antar sifat morfologi dengan hasil menunjukkan bahwa Jumlah polong per tanaman (JPT), Jumlah biji per polong (JBiP), Jumlah biji per tanaman (JBiT), Bobot polong (BP), Bobot polong per tanaman (BPT) berkorelasi positif dengan hasil.

Most of Indonesian red rice is not grown in dry land. New varieties could be breeded through mutation breeding. This research objective was to evaluate the selection strategy of drought tolerant on red rice. The study was conducted on ultisol soil in Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia, in February 2012-February 2015. It consisted of three activities, selection M5, evaluation of selected M5 and evaluation of drought critical period on selected M6. Mutant of M5 was selected and evaluated with polyethylene glycol (PEG) -0.5 MPa and less of soil moisture. Selected M6 was evaluated to observe a critical period of drought stress. Evaluation with PEG produces five superior mutants that more vigor than the elders. Selection on low humidity shows that M 5 -G R150 -1-9 produces higher filled grain and weight filled grain than other mutants and elders. The selected red rice line M 5 -G R150 -1-9-13, has a better tolerance towards drought than its control. It could be obtained such mutant lines which have a high yield, early maturing and drought tolerant from the result of six generations gamma irradiation mutant selection.

Yield potential of genotype was influenced by growth location. The information of genotype x location required in the selection of superior genotypes. There were 15 soybean genotypes ( 12 promissing lines and 3 check varieties, Anjasmoro, Grobogan and Kaba) evaluated in two different locations, in Pasuruan and Malang from June until October 2012. The objective from this research to evaluate genotype x location interaction and got potential lines soybean that has a high yield potential. Randomized Completely Block Design with four replications were used. The data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance in each location, then continue with Composite Analysis of Variance in 2 locations. The result from this research showed that quantitative traits showed genotype x location interaction for plant height, number of branch, number of productive branch, number of filled pod, 100 seed weight, days to maturity, and yield potential. Genotypes Balitkabi 6 and UB 2 have potential to be developed in Pasuruan, while genotype Balitkabi 2, Balitkabi 3, UB 4 and 5 have potential to be developed in Malang. Balitkabi 2, Balitkabi 3, UB 4 and UB 5 were superior than Kaba varieties on character 100 seed weight, days to flowering and days to maturity while those genotype had high yield than Grobogan and Anjasmoro varieties, so can be proposed to do further testing.
